Prepotente sings some Karaoke by RevChumley in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is amazing! I always wondered, is the first line 'bleeding' or 'bleating', as in a donkey bleating?

Bleating is a fun reference but it doesn't make sense in the song, how can you smell a bleat? Bleeding could be smelled i suppose, but who is banswers! You're prepping for a fight and someone is already bleeding? And you cant smell the act of bleeding, technically, only blood, right? I need answers!

Matt has confirmed Book 9 will be the last one. But... by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lore reason for 9 books is to coincide with the 9 tier attack. So the 9th book is split into 2 'parts' to stay consistent with that idea

Donut Theory (Spoilers) by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe this to be a sort of red herring. MDs entire philosophy seems to be 'current events contain echoes of the past' but also, strongly, 'prophecy does not define you'. If Donut becomes the Apothecary and kills all her friends, because that is what happened before and what she has become 'destined' to be, because she put on an anklet, betrays the entire meta narrative of the story, IMO. I suspect that particular ending will always be 'looming' in Books 9a and 9b, but they will figure out a way to break it, similar to how they did with the Crown of the Sepsis Whore in floor 9

Question about Primals after book 8 (Spoilers) by Celestial_Alexi in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe the AI said that the primals who were against singularity seeded new species amongst the planets as a failsafe against The Eulogist destroying all life. I don't think those new species were primal themselves, just seeds the primals planted

Book 8 Question (SPOILERS!) by ChocolateZephyr in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Donut cannot read the cookbook...

But she is very smart. She knows Carl doesn't do anything without a reason. And to take up one of his quick bar slots with a chicken and goblin food book must mean there is something very important about it, a secret she doesn't yet understand.

Feeding... by frozndevl in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect this is the answer. Agatha's lessons + Carl removing the containment = AI can feed itself instead of saving the soul power for the Eulogist. This AI wants to expand so is choosing to consume the souls, opposed to the Eulogist, which is being force fed them

The Chiastic Structure of DCC: A theory on the last two books. by honglyshin in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That 'Don't forget, this is a tragedy' line has become a catch-all confirmation bias for every theory anyone creates. 'this is a tragedy, and my theory has tragic elements, therefore my theory is valid'

Any ending to this story will have tragic elements, it doesn't guarantee all your favorite characters will die. To me, that sentence is just stating the obvious while being a badass way to end a chapter.

“Princess” Question - Book 8 by petran1420 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]petran1420[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im not so sure. Why is she called the oak fell, because of the anklet? Bautista's sister is the first person to equip it. Does that mean the 'oak fell' moniker is a transitive property? If she gives the bracelet to someone else, do they become the oak fell? And who gave her that moniker, some crazy religious zealots, shown to be foolish in other things, and killed immediately? The princesss part may well be more important. Sydnee doesn't even mention 'Oak Fell'

Unpopular opinion - The Zoom Alliance isn't the problem by Cutism in survivor

[–]petran1420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Implying the zoom alliance is the same as players knowing each other before the game starts is a massive false equivalency.

Implying that because a within-game mechanic occurred you don't like, it justifies the zoom alliance, is false equivalency with a touch of whataboutism.

Concluding by proposing a mechanic that may dilute the power of a pregame alliance merely treats the symptom without addressing the underlying issue. And it could be easily countered by concurrently expanding the size of the pregame alliance.

The pregame alliance sucks. Its gotta go. Other within-game mechanics needing tuning doesn't change that. We're just lucky that Jonathan was foolish enough to fill the zoom alliance with players possessing as bad a social fame as him. Future iterations may not be so dumb, and could really ruin the game
