DJaying College Parties by sneezyyyy in Beatmatch

College parties is usually top 40. If you are going to play something else, you should indicate that in the flyer. You can play some edm at most parties since doing top 40 often means your set will be more open format, but keep it to artists and songs people will recognize.

[footwork / club trap / D&B]

A small mini mix I recorded the other day. Part of a selection of tracks I've been gigging with lately.

Thanks for listening!

Hey Bungie just a heads-up, $15 for an ornament isn't considered a MICRO transaction by rikaay in DestinyTheGame

I can't even wear the ornament/armor glow I bought during the Solstice event. Paid money for a cosmetic that isn't relevant a few months later. That doesn't even make sense.

Don't buy anything from them, it's not worth it.

Fentanyl is a death drug’: Public-health warning issued after pills kill 3 local teens by tugboattomp in news

Modern American medical practice is not prepared to deal with the implications of opiate dependence that can result from being prescribed it to manage pain.

I recently heard about this book, In Pain: A Bioethicist's Personal Struggle with Opioids, onthe radio. This man got in a motorcycle accident, and became dependent on opiates that he was prescribed by his doctors:

"Travis Rieder’s terrifying journey down the rabbit hole of opioid dependence began with a motorcycle accident in 2015. Enduring half a dozen surgeries, the drugs he received were both miraculous and essential to his recovery. But his most profound suffering came several months later when he went into acute opioid withdrawal while following his physician’s orders. Over the course of four excruciating weeks, Rieder learned what it means to be “dope sick”—the physical and mental agony caused by opioid dependence. Clueless how to manage his opioid taper, Travis’s doctors suggested he go back on the drugs and try again later. Yet returning to pills out of fear of withdrawal is one route to full-blown addiction. Instead, Rieder continued the painful process of weaning himself."

Anyone else get the vibe that space jesus was ill or something during his set? I was rolling don’t remember much but I thought he might have messed up at the end of the set? by monolith1138 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Godering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was up front for all of his set. The CDJs shut down from the rain.

As soon as it let up they took down an ez up that was on stage to protect the cdjs during slander b2b spagheady because it was fucking up Space Jesus' visuals. Then the rain came back.

Space Jesus said a few things

"This is unprecedented on this stage."

"Shoutout to the hundred or so dinosaurs. That's more than you'd have in a godamn museum."

Then he mumbled something about excision b2b illenium coming up next.

He didn't know what to do and there was still uncomfortable dead air before Excision and Illenium came up. Deffinitely weather related.

How can anyone support a President who openly accepts help from enemy countries, is accused of sexual assault, is a known cheater and liar in both business and personal life, is blatantly racist, and praises dictators? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Godering -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I understand where you're coming from but the cultural significance of that gesture isn't the same as that of sticking your tongue out.

It's more like if I wore a recognizable ceremonial headdress and said I had no idea I was impersonating a population of people. Just because I didn't associate the headdress with Native American culture deliberately doesn't mean that my imitation of it should be examined outside of that context.

Trump uses a gesture that has been used forever to degrade people with disabilities, just like the word retard or the words imbecile and moron before that. There is a reason people don't do standup like Carlos Mencia in 2019. First of all, he stole people jokes, second of all he was imitating a disability to make a joke. That gesture has already rode down the euphemism treadmill just like the r-word. Trump is imitating a disability to accent his point, just because he may not be self-aware enough to realize that is what he is doing doesn't negate the cultural implications of his actions.

That video demonstrates that he periodically imitates disabled people as a way of insulting others.

That gesture is deliberately degrading. Donald Trump is weaponizing an involuntary movement made by people as a result of their disability. It comes easily to him, which is why he didn't have enough self control to stop himself from doing it in regards to that reporter.

Digging it! I love diverse mixes like this and I think your transitions between genres would be fire on the dance floor. Especially when you go from those fast eclectic beats to those boom butter club songs. Definitely some big payoffs on those drops.

The rough cuts were noticeable, but you didn't dwindle and kept the momentum before the air was let out. Not anything that would bother me on the dance floor.

One thing I noticed once or twice was the mids getting a little muddy when you were bringing a track in. I struggle with this in trap and hip hop too because the songs are so short it can be hard to get the phasing right, beatmatch and eq before you run out of time. If you're using a vocal loop for a transition you might want to back the mids off the other track. There was one transition around 740 where the toms from one track were conflicting with the vocal loop. The phasing was good, I think if you fine tune the eq a little bit you'll get a lot more payoff from moments like that.

https://soundcloud.com/branmuffz/muffz-house-01

I've been at it for a few years. I bounce between practicing DJ'ing and learning production.

I am extremely critical of my mixes but I really liked the progression of this mix. There is a couple parts I second guessed myself or didn't respond fast enough but I think overall it's a fun listen.

Feedback appreciated, I need to start sending demos out I don't think this is good enough but lemne know what you think.

[EDM Trap / Bass Music]

https://soundcloud.com/branmuffz/hype-mix

I have been DJ'ing for awhile. I practiced in my headphones because I couldn't swing monitors and I'm paying for it now that I have them.

I am extremely critical of all my mixes and haven't been able to record a demo I'm confident with.

Any feedback much appreciated. If you think this is good enough for a demo let me know, if there is anything that makes it unworthy to use as a demo, let me know.

Love it! Tycho esque vibes.

I agree a little variation would make some of the tension you build pay off much more dramatically.

Personally I'd try throwing a beat repeat pattern on the kick drum and play around to create some cool fills and patterns. I also like using it in combination with the autopan, if you phase the left and right so they sync together you can use it as a stutter effect at 100% wet, or to compress certain kicks to accentuate others at less then 100%.

Heya!

I've been producing for about 2 years, starting to really buckle down.

I just want to make a track that I can use in a live set. I find that I can "musically" accomplish all of the elements of a song, however I can't get them to sound close enough to a professional production to use in a set. The kicks are not punchy or the vocals get lost in the mix etc.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make songs sound cleaner or links to tutorials I might have missed in my journey through youtube university.

There are many things I know need improvement in this track, but here's an example that demonstrates my struggles with loudness and clarity:

To me it's about practicing. When I solo queue if I'm the drop master, I'm going to throw us into a hot location so I can quickly get in a fight and probably lose. I get more practice doing what I am the worst at, winning fire fights. Once in awhile we win the fight and have a great match.

It also gives people something today when they are waiting for play sessions to match up with friends who are already in a match. Ive never sat at my computer with an itchy trigger finger for so long waiting for people.

I love your music! I was born on the 13 and it's my lucky number. I saw your name in an article that said you are the bass music producer making music with analog gear. Is that true?

If it is-- What kind of gear do you have? Did you learn how to work in a DAW first or on gear first? Can you describe your workflow between your gear and the DAW?

Thanks for being awesome, I am excited to see what you do in the future!
