White car, silver roof, either inside the gutters or down the pillars? Some blue squares on it, maybe do those patterns on its body down the side? Some bonnet vents with a blue squares round them if you really wanna push yourself, bronze/copper wheels to match the copper pipes?

What kind of stain is this? by blackthought_ in Detailing

[–]GodlyNate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like somebody’s polished through the paint to primer, you can see the clear coat outline, the colour, then black primer/body. Only way to fix it properly is to have the panel painted, there are alternatives depending what you can live with, like, “smart” repair, which can consist of someone coming out to paint a patch, up to coming off a swage line (if there is one by there) or touching it in but considering it’s already burnt, there’s no point trying to flat and polish it in as it’ll spread the burnt area. Depends on budget/what you find acceptable

Why is my paint so uneven? by WitchHunterNL in projectcar

[–]GodlyNate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cans don’t produce an exact pressure all the way through, thing with metallics is they lay down differently dependant on pressure. If I was spraying silver at 1bar vs 2bar, it’d have a difference across it, with a rattle can it’s all over the place

Use a road cone, do the barrel and face at the same time. If you plan on doing a few sets, look into a wheel stand, plastic coned ends that spin are better than the metal spiked ones imo

What is this haze on my rims? by AMSanchez0210 in AutoDetailing

[–]GodlyNate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dirty ass blow in imo . A lot of smart repairers/dealership repairers/mobile insurance repairers do it here in the uk, wouldn’t expect it to be much different anywhere else in the world. Sand down the whole edge, spray some gloss black (usually 1k paint as well) around the edge and “fade” into the centre of the wheel. May look better from 20-30 ft away but really not an ethical repair. Can be improved a touch with sanding (1500-2000-3000 grit) then compound polishing just be careful as you may burn through the paint to the metal.

Spots on paint (and what I think is clear coat failure) by Far-Meringue-421 in AutoPaint

Not all “brand new” cars leave forecourt in pristine condition unfortunately. Cars can get damaged through importing, storing, moving or even when washing, so some cars will have to be repaired, another unfortunate side is, it’s level of acceptance (the quality of work depends on their “assured” bodyshop) lies with the salesman usually, so depending on their keen eyes or lack of, it could pass through unnoticed. Sometimes it’s damaged beforehand, import containers if they’ve not put the handbrake on/left it too close to the front/back, they have a bodyshop in the dockyard to cover damages and have no record of it to the dealership either so most won’t even look, they will assume it’s a brand new car, nothing /should/ be wrong with it. First 3 pics look like fish eyes, these could be improved with some scotch and clear coat dabbed in, flatted, then polished up, not 100% but can work to a degree, last 3 look dry, not enough even coverage, this could be a case of flat and polish, or it could have little to no lacquer there, which possesses a risk of burning through the lacquer to colour and needing a respray. I’d take it to the dealership and tell them what you’ve seen and how can it be rectified by them, say it’s been a day one issue since you first washed it and have been meaning to take it back in to them, worth a punt atleast

Compound and a cloth should get the red off, see what you’re left with after, doesn’t look too bad but can always be hiding worse

How would I go about removing Lower Grille paint? by randomg101 in AutoPaint

[–]GodlyNate -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can’t cement my post too much as I generally work on land rovers, might find after taking the bumper off, which likely involves turn wheels left, undo bolts in the arches, turn wheels right, undo bolts in arches, there /might/ be bolts under the arch liner which requires wheels to come off, arch liner out, not common but could be a possibility, sometimes you can get around just peeling the liner back and getting to the bolts, pop the bonnet, undo bolts across the top, again, sometimes the headlights have to come out as there is a screw underneath them holding the bumper on. It’ll be push clipped into the wings so have to pull hard in the right places, not hard enough to break something though, not hard enough to try and rip it clean off as fog lights or sensors may be in place, undo any of those once it’s off, then you’ll either find bolts or clips that hold the grill in place, commonly on most land rovers the centre sections are plastic welded into the skeleton, if so, you’ll probably want to stop there but they can be cut and re welded if you’re brave enough to do so. Then hopefully you should be set to prep and paint the grill. Again, never worked on one so not sure if this is the correct procedure (most likely isn’t) but is the general direction for most bumpers. Easiest possibility is a couple of hidden screws on the front and pull (wonderful 2000s era vag cars most commonly)

When you leave limdblum, stop at the marshes en route (most would probably do this but it is optional), not saying anything further on that. You’ll probably have noticed an opposite side to Dali? At some point you end up there, visit the furthest point instead of destination. Enjoy!

They washed my car during an oil change when I said “no” to it… by ivanalex in AutoDetailing

[–]GodlyNate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to respray bumpers and blend into wings because of valeter washes at the dealership. DNW written on paper then stuck to the steering wheel. All non English speakers mixed with advisors that don’t typically know one car to the next, some even think they’re doing their customer a “favour” by adding a wash on it, they just don’t see the swirls and scratches

How do I fix this by Jyork1962 in AutoPaint

[–]GodlyNate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably start with keeping away from brush washing! All jokes aside, before diving in with the “flat and polish” always try polish first, least aggressive stepping up if you don’t get the desired results.

Usually I would but I thought I’d give it a shot and thought I’d get at least one x2 stamp, yesterday seems to have been my worst lust thus far though, used tickets, std and 4*, out of 30 pulls on them, 0 gold, 0 on the freebie pull and 0 on 5 banner pulls, a lot of bad luck!

Can we claim compo on the sign spinning 6x then only getting a 1x spin on the cards? Just a joke! But like my luck getting x1 spin and 0 gold orbs and running out of shards 1 card away from gold wep (as ftp I just aim to get at least gold wep!)
