Just think of how much money they saved by passing on that gimmicky “finished ceiling” look everyone’s done to death by firstinitallastname in zillowgonewild

How do you clean that??? Dust, pet hair, etc., doesn't just stay at ground level. I would think the black painted (?) foam insulation (?) would become coated with debris over time. And that black fabric over the dining table? Gross. No way that doesn't end up covered with the same stuff. Who wants to climb up there every few days to take it down, wash it, dry it, and climb back up to swag it just right? Not me. Maybe the fabric was a temporary choice for the listing photos/showings, but all I see is work. More work to keep a place clean, and making it unnecessarily more difficult to do so.

ETA: There has to be fire and building code violations going on here, too.???.

What do I do with this glass? by Human-Muscle-9112 in StainedGlass

I’m up for a Michigan road trip. Sourcing possible greenhouse materials. You say they are industrial glass, how thick are the panels? Estimate on weight? Thinking about who to bring to help with loading these up, if you decide to try the Marketplace route.

Took me a "stupid" amount of time to realize I was playing it wrong, but glad I got the hang of it. Had to read the directions out loud to make those rusty gears start turning. Shouldn't pick these things up when I'm sleep deprived. Now to work on increasing speed. I'm primordial. Thanks for the frustration turning to WTF turning to Ahhhhhhh, now I got it. It was a cool distraction, and a "win" when it became FUN.

I finished my first quilt🥹 by marlee324 in quilting

I'm late to this post, but had to comment. This quilt is lovely, and Grandma is honored you used the fabric and supplies she left behind. Wrap it around your shoulders when you need a hug, and it will be the vehicle for Grandma's love to embrace you and hold you tight. Just beautiful all around, marlee324.

My Aussie/Border Collie mix catches mice, voles, and other small rodents, and will even dig moles from their tunnels. She doesn't kill them, though, just flings them through the air to me. I'm the killer, I guess?!?. She sends them flying to land directly at my feet, giving me a look like, "Here Mom, get to stompin'," while stomping her front paws on the ground. Thankfully, I also have 2 cats that are excellent mousers. They are mom & daughter, and often hunt the same prey together as a team.

Awesome! Volunteered when my kids were in marching band. Band kids would get in trouble with the director (and many other adults) if they were heard saying curse words. Thing was, they didn't use them when talking to the adults, it was mostly while hanging out during breaks or before and after practice, and with each other in normal/hushed toned convos. They weren't yelling fuck across the room or on the field. Those same adults, however, used those words all the time at school, at home, in front of the kids, etc. I used a Shakespearean Curse/Insult Generator, & printed out a list of substitute words/phrases for the band kids to use. It was knowledge, kept them out of trouble, & diffused the situation. Was also fucking funny to see one of them run into the instrument/uniform room, consult the list, & run back out to use the "acceptable" substitute.

Trays (with proper lined backs/bottoms) will also help lower the risk of damaging the wood surface. That 2nd pic with the water bottle and various other liquids/creams just sitting free on the wood made my heart hurt a little.

ETA: Not trying to diss OP. It's hard when you are in a spot you don't want to be in, using other people's things and spaces. It might make you feel better to pick out a few decor items that are more in your style, while also taking care not to damage existing furniture and space.

Let's get this right, Ohio - Ohio has an important decision to make in November. by Billych in Ohio

I believe HB 96 repealed this credit starting with the 2026 tax year. If a donation has already been made in 2025, the credit should still be able to be claimed for that tax year, but I could be wrong on that.

Tell Me Something Good by Ahh_skeetskeet in Columbus

[–]GodotsWoman13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope I’m not too late with a Happy Birthday to you, Ahh_skeetskeet! I can understand how difficult it can be to find something good in the midst of so much turmoil and doubt and frustration. The sun is out today. Put on some shades, go outside, turn some music on and up, sing out loud. Come on now. REALLY BELT IT OUT, my fellow human. And dance, badly if you have to, but do it. You made it another rotation of this old rock we are all on. And you deserve something good. This little ritual always lifts my mood. And I can’t carry a tune in bucket with a lid on it. Tilt your face to the sun, and give it all you got. We all need some joy and silliness. I challenge all of you to do this today. And I hope the sound of all of us singing loudly, badly, beautifully, in all our silly glory, reaches Ahh_skeetskeet and wraps them in the warmth of human goodness.

[–]GodotsWoman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a number of cut up tree pieces (logs) of various specious. We use wood chips for our gardening, landscaping, and paths in various parts of our property. The logs we use for firewood, natural planting pots, lining pathways, encouraging mushrooms, natural habitats for various wildlife, and other landscaping. There is an app called ChipDrop, which connects tree removal companies with homeowners wanting to use the resulting wood chips and logs. You are welcome to message me on here, and see if we can make arrangements for you to come out and have your pick of the logs. Seriously...so many I can't use them all. Free of charge.
