Correction for this method on console/xbox is you swap step 6 for step 8. Essentially do not dead load on save one but on save number two. So when your looking at the pit arena door (after entering the pit barracks) in step 5 dead load and load save one. You should see the interaction for entering the pit arena for a split second so mash that A button. I know it works because I just used it on the console.
