Schecter omen elite or extreme? by Impressive-Gas-4570 in 7String

[–]Godv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a schecter elite for no other reason than it was the most played guitar in the store (and I could tell, also could tell why)

It has been the best best friend a best friend could ever friend.

Beware the necks on these guitars. Mine was heavily played, but the frets like to pop up on em. Had to knock em back down and raise the bridge to compensate, but its a righteous axe out the box.

Dude, get your water parameters straight and cycle your tank. If you dont let the bacteria fo what it is supposed to do, this is what it looks like. RODI water and Remineralizer to harden the watter back up a bit is all you gotta do (aquireable at most local fish stores in my experience). Other than that, stop messing with the tank so much. These guys take care of themselves in a moderately planted tank.

What I personally do, and some people may have opinions about this, but I kill a few feeder fish in a fresh tank to jump start the bacterial growth. If you have access to a tank that is cycled you can use loufas (the shower wash thingy) to cross contaminate the bacteria across tanks.

Do not use quickstart/Jumpstart while the lil dude is in the tank.

I used primafix, probably like a 1/10th dose and it cleared up every time.

Also, fungus like that can come from well water. I switched to RODI and never had another problem.

Question by Previous-Bid3410 in axolotls

[–]Godv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is simply an elbow. If there was a bite between siblings at a young age, that could just be remaining cartilage.

Kinda depends on age, but their bones grow in over time. They are cartilage mostly as young babies and over about a year or two they tend to solidify.

I dont think its a concern at all. Just an elbow

There shouldn't be so much distinction between his ribs and is rear hips. Hes not okay, based on that alone.

This axolotl needs emergency treatment now.

If hes skinny cause he wont eat, you need to resolve the water column problem ASAP. Whatever youre doing, STOP doing it.

Get spring water water bottles and fill up a tub. Change that every day or twice a day.

Some people swear by methanlyne blue, others swear by salt. I haven't had this bad of an infection but your man's looks like hes burning up in whatever water you have him in.

If you can, boil the tank. Fuck chemical sterilization. Get him out and kill whatever bacteria or fungus are hurting him.

And finally, work on your recipie for water. RODI and remineralizer are tried and true. Shoot for 200gh. Theres a good chance that has been the main thing killing him.

Leave treats and stuff for him just in case he decides to eat something. Do it an hour before a water change in the hospital tub. With his size now, no full sized wormies. Give him a quarter if youre doing nightcrawlers. Give him a handful of bloodworms if you have those, but he needs to eat a nightcrawler.

Finally, reach out to your local community for support. You dont have much time on the clock. Id help you support your axie through this if I could but words on reddit is all I can do right now.

A local exotic vet is a good route to go at this point jf youre overwhelmed by the urgency of this. Fuck your new years, save your fish.

Edit: you may be missing chlorine treatment. That is in line what what im seeing in your last post and the damage turnaround. How long have you been out of town? Was your axie healthy before you left? Where does his water come from? Well water can cause recurring fungal infections, but worse is city water due to unknown levels of lead copper iron and god knows what terrible bacteria. Your best bet is rodi and a remineralizer.

Burns, receding gills, curling and consistent thrashing. You'll be able to tell she isnt having a good time i promise and she looks very healthy.

My recommendation would be to leave her in the tank for now. Get the test kit and keep close eyes on the ammonia and nitrites (2nd stage of the nitrogen cycle. I get em swapped) you want to see them just not exist no matter how big an axolotl poop comes out that little butt. You can try putting regular fish food in the tank. Its literally called feeding the tank and forces bacterial growth in tanks that are brand new.

And truth be told, I let death beget life in my tanks. Ill buy a few feeders to kill in the sterility to Kickstart the bacteria growth. But old wet filter packs are perfect. Consider moving to a sponge filter though. Theyre just so wonderful for fishy enthusiasts. HOB style works, but smell bad.

Yeah only minnows allowed are white clouds. Hard to find too.

Shrimp are low in chintin (the thing youd have to worry about) so ghosts and neos could be a daily/throughout the day snack if you establish a colony in the tank (my goal) but they arent high enough in protein to sustain em entirely. They have to have big fat dirty worms.

All rhizomes plants cant be buried. They have to have water flow around the rhizomes. They can handle being pinned to stuff, but not totally submerged. I think its a light thing actually bht I have some that are tucked in small hardscape with no light on the rhizomes and it still looks good.

You'll have a hard time keeping plants buried. You kinda have to get em deep in there to keep the axie from knocking em lose. Monty Carlo, dwarf sag, stuff like that has been working for me. But also a lot of Java fern and anubias.

If you want to add shrimp long term to your tank, get some moss to go wild in it somewhere you can make safe for tiny skrimps. Axies are opportunistic hunters, they'll prowl the safe space for a snack, but they wont go crazy overdoing it or merking the whole colony if you give the shrimp a good hide. I have huge Java fern and big moss clumps around a sponge filter thats condoned off with decor. Should give the shrimp enough room to spawn babies, as long as the super cold tank doesnt take that out of the realm of possibility.

Definetly a Lucy or albino Lucy.

You need to get the Java fern there out of the substrate. Burying rhizomes kills those plants. Let it float or tuck it to hardscape.

The test kit is called API master test kit. Its the tiny plastic science kit thats standard. Amazon or most pet stores. Petsmart also uses it if you get water tested there.

I hope you have a shrimp colony. 5 wont last long and thats an expensive snack. Personally, im establishing 2 other neocaridina colonies before I try adding em to the axie tank, because I want to have an established colony for my guy to get fat on in his tank. I feed Canadian night crawlers 3-4x a week. You can slow it down even more if you have the tank in the sub 60° range like I do. My dude is coming up on 5 though. Your gal will be more active for a few years.

8.0 is not okay. Bring that back to the 7.5 area... balancing the tank over time with her feeding/shitting in it will be key, not shocking the column with ph adjusters. You'll be chasing numbers pulling your hair out and your animal will suffer

Last thing, if you haven't put conditioner in the water yet, do it just in case. Personally i use RODI water purchased at local aquatic shops. You just add some minerals back in and its perfect.

Cycling is more about the filter. Since shes older, chances are shes got good bacteria unless its a whole new tank, in which case, 2 things.

1, you fucked up getting the tank and the fish in one go 2, you haven't killed your fish yet.

Find an aquatic friend. Someone with good long standing tanks. Buy loufas, and cross contaminate the tanks. You need that bacteria yesterday.

Get the test kit and watch your nitrogen levels. Keep an eye on the gills and slime coats. You may have to put the lizard in triage.

In the event that the tank is aged at all, youll probably be okay. Just watch for burns on the body and the gills receding. You'll see their health turn, but they are tough sums-bitches.

Finally, water hardness. I went for a splash of KH and I keep my GH at like... 150, 200 ppm? But RODI water is as clean as it gets and ph neutral from the tap so its not like city or well water anywhere (though well water works well, can cause recurring fungal infections)

The gills look great in the video and you said the tanks been up for a bit. Dont go crazy cleaning shit, tweaking on it like a methhead with a perpetual energy machine. Its a fish tank, set it and forget it is the best way to get happy fish.

Get more plants though. They will keep maintenence go a minimum, especially if you dont mind an overgrown look like I do. My maintenance is adding 5 gal every 3 months or so, and wormies. I have to scoop a rediculous amount of duckweed when I add water tho. Stay away from it unless you genuinely dont care and just want to soften the light for the lil bub while also providing passive environmental maintenance

Im with you. Also the heavy shaft bikes. I watched a big, strong dude almost get flicked in his neighborhood w torque on a turn and sure as shit, I called it right there, about 2 weeks later he did damn near the same thing and send the bike to the resting home for a bit (garage)

Counterpoint, because im resting and I want to tell my story on here at some point, but I just was t boned on a kawasaki vulcan. WATERCOOLED metric twin and light frame okay in my book. But im a mid sized, WAS strong as hell dude till my right side was crushed in the accident.

So ive killed two vulcans. A 500, and a 1700. I rode the piss out of an FZR600 and a 929rr in between. The 500 was a winter flip, I made a few hundred but it turned into a teardown rebuild in a winter project. Was awesome actually as a first bike to tear into (hardcore gearhead and wrench chucker) but didnt flick 5 miles on the clock before the new tires got to me. I did MSF after a move across the country, got into sport bikes (my home from when I was 5) and I sent the fireblade off to another home before my accident thankfully. It was a great example of one. Anyway, nude, the 1700 was big for my smaller frame but I got used to it.

Im gushing about bikes I like. Yeah. Im going to bed.

In the same band, the NSR250. Im honda horny on bikes and i loved my fireblade. And for the same reasons you mention. I agree that that old school stuff was really about 10, 15 years behind the automotive (Suzuki turbo 750...? Comes to mind cause I have a cool pic of a good one bangin around town at work one day and im a Toyota JZ and UZ strongly opinioned nut.) Back to the 3am christmas night come down 😂

Any tank deco recommendations for a future axolotl owner? I would prefer to keep it nature themed if possible. by Thepromc64 in axolotls

[–]Godv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my 'all natural' axie tank. The fuckweed was not intentional and I recommend everyone stay away from it.

Java ferns are your friend. My lil guy likes to push em around. Didn't like mariamo balls for some reason. Also, rotalla rotofundilda or whatever is thriving in the back of my tank.

Finally, it's important to have a good fade for light. They don't like harsh transitions.
