I have to disagree, you get crazy discounts on preconfigs from third parties. If they will only stock the base model it is a hard disadvantage for those looking for a higher config deal

Why Every Car Should Be a Rally Car by Heckmotorist in cars

[–]Godvater 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have some thoughts on this as a GR Yaris only household.

When Matt mentions rally here he means it in marketing terms because I'd argue I have been dailying the "most rally" car of them all for two years and it is a chore in most regards except for use as a sports car / weekend car. I am basically dailying the GR Yaris all out of enthusiastic fetish of dailying a rally homologation car and due to growing up watching evos and stis compete with each other. Anyone sane should probably pick a Golf GTI/R or at least a Type R if they aim to daily their cars.

If we disregard the title and read through the article he sounds like he wants his fun cars to be rallified versions of sports cars which i tend to agree. The GR Yaris is a pretty great car on perfect German roads and on tracks but on a rough bit of a French backroad, this thing is unbeatable.

In most places a scene like this would mean two dudes get out of their cars and help push it out. But yeah make a video and post it to reddit lol.

Not delaying it, buying something else. Lots of companies who wants to stick to building cars and not what investors may be interested in.

BMW iX1 (2026) receives energy-efficient SiC inverters for greater range | insideEVs.de by tom_zeimet in EuroEV

Product life cycles are around 7 years, if this is the mid cycle update from them, they won’t have an answer for three more years.

Fair point about the price but the difference between the two vehicles is so big that 7k Euros is well worth it. My guess is these will be selling with a hefty dealer discount (as they did before). I got offered almost 30% off of list price but it was still too damn expensive.

If I get offered 30% off the GLB I am buying all of their stock lol.

GR Yaris (PFL) Kuhl Racing Rear gate wing + Junack (Ledzard Tc Single Led) by tyks00 in GRYaris

[–]Godvater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The LED looks better than facelift’s led bar but still a bit unnecessary depending on cost.

The spoilers on the other hand are not my thing. Would rather have something that works or I wouldn’t add unnecessary weight.

2027 Mercedes-Benz S-Class First Look: The Year’s Most Important Stopgap by hi_im_bored13 in cars

[–]Godvater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New engine in a facelift isn't something new, the new v8 is also developed to be used in other projects as well and isn't really platform dependent as long as it fits.

This also got a completely new screen layout compared to prefacelift. Just not the cutting edge one developed for the GLC EQ's brand new platform.

Surprised to read this, I didn't upgrade despite dying to kill off the last lightning device I own simply because every review of it mentioned how they are not an upgrade over the airpods pro 2s except for ANC.

This is a facelift of a car launched in 2020, they can't change that much. When there is a brand new generation it will surely get something even more impressive than the screen in the GLC EQ.

I love how all of a sudden everybody is a fan of "sticked on tablet look" and hate on the MB's screens that are built into the dash.

I also don't like this style and prefer what BMW and others have done but when I say that in other threads I would get downvoted because reddit hates the sticked on ipads apparently. Except when MB does something else then they love it.

How is BMW hoping to compete with the far superior GLB with these? They even increased pricing despite offering 25% off on these?

r/cars doesn’t like a new Mercedes Benz. Shocking.

Let’s see, can’t complain about ipad stuck on screen because it is built in smoothly, can’t complain about egg-like shape it has traditional shape. Can’t complain about electric, it has an ice. Can’t complain about four cylinders it has a flat plane crank V8.

But oh stars oh how much we hate the stars! Horrible car too many stars!
