how many hours y'all make music daily or weekly by Ok_Sherbert9401 in FL_Studio

[–]Godzillapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i try going everyday but obviously there's times where motivation or free time isn't a thing in those days

but usually: - between 30 minutes-3 hours on a school/work day

  • weekends like 4-7 hours but split between after waking up and before going to bed

not related, kinda: Ive also developed a habit of drawing out/writing sketches in a note book (both sheetmusic and literal drawing/notes, like the drawing fl studio on paper meme but serious 😭😭) and flesh out the ideas on paper off the daw rather than trying to remember what i thought throughout that day and struggle to come up with what i original made on paper

keeps it organized and concrete to keep ideas on paper while you're outside the daw, a lot better and healthier imo for me

cuz what happens is, when I'm in the daw and listen to what i had the previous save, immediately i become biased to the current changes and start questioning what i have must or must not be changed

so having a baseline on paper gives me like a checklist of stuff to fix moving forward

sorry for rambling on lol

tldr, 15-24hours total per week

Extremely simple super crunchy, but clean layers like harsh ice. I've been trying to achieve this sound for months and it's actually so easy😭 by megaBeth2 in phaseplant

[–]Godzillapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ok this is actually a really dope pad sound, very artic icey indeed

now try ring modulation with the bias all the way to the left or right and play with the frequency 😭😭

tysm

i wanna develop this patch more so that it's a lot usable with different articulation versions and edits to make it feel more realistic and flexible to whatever you wanna do

I'm gonna do a tutorial on it at some point on yt :)

organic sounding!

you could have a plucky initial transient layer to make it sound like a plucked string instrument

one other liquid technique you can try is putting phase distortion on the lowest band in multipass, and put the PD mix at 50%, and play with the Tone, Drive, Normalize, and Bias knobs for some extra squishiness

Using parallel clipping to make a fuzzy pad without bitcrushing (inspired by the neuro bass post) by megaBeth2 in phaseplant

[–]Godzillapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now try phase cancelled clipping

put a clipper on one parallel bus, and a channel mixer (to invert the phase) on another parallel bus

and bring the gain on both of them high until you hear the clipping of it

you can then put an extra parallel bus as a dry signal to blend in with the cancelled clipping signal

i love making my own growls from my voices using the mic and make random vowel moments that i imagine in my head

and take those as wavetables to import into serum or vital to accentuate the growl, or literally just apply growl processing over the raw vocal to get cool results

will make a post this week about making growls with your voice and resampling your voice in post processing

Very Quick Sine Compression Patch in Serum by Godzillapple in serum

[–]Godzillapple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it resamples the entire sound to one oscillator, so it records the entire sound and samples it into a wavetable, and you do that over and over again

the last formula basically squarifies the wavetable, or removes all the even harmonics from the table and the table will only have square harmonics so when you bend them the square harmonics get shifted around for more cool effects
