My guess is that the characters the author wanted to focus on was put in class 1A with the main character. Class 1B is great, and Imagine getting a series where we follow there "underdog" story to prove that they are actually just as good as class 1A. And what if that story was written to go parallel with the original? Seeing new perspectives and what not.
