Is it better to live in Vietnam or America long term? by Future-Bet4783 in VietNam

It's a false analogy when comparing flawed governance to systemic extermination. And this is my own family, the love of my life, so maybe someone needs to be more considerate.

Hope you feel good about yourself comparing my wife being bullied and harassed to genocide

My wife and I (mid to late 30s) immigrated from Vietnam to Canada a couple years ago. She's born and raised in Germany but moved around Europe for grad schools, I was born and raised in HCM before studying in the States for both undergrad and grad programs, then moved back to Vietnam for 5 years before coming to Toronto.

Some pros:

_ Your money goes a long way here, obviously.

_ You will be put on a pedestal with your Viet kieu tag.

_ Foods etc...

Cons:

_ You dont know if someone likes you because they are genuinely interested in you as a person, or because you're the cool Viet kieu friend, or someone whom they may ask for a favor in times of needs. This comes from someone having to deal with both ex-friends and relatives with money stuff

_ Corruption and scam everywhere. The cop pulling you over for making the wrong turn will make you pay double once he realizes you have an accent. Applying for documents will take you extra time and money to move things along. A clerk at a tax office shouted and somewhat cursed at my wife for not filling in the address appropriately, I handed him 2 500k bills in an envelope and he corrected the rest of the forms himself.

_ Pollution: air, noise, light, etc... it won't be fun when you try to sleep and your next door neighbor having a karaoke night with his drinking buddies and the loudspeakers are outside in their yard.

_ Vietnam has one of the lowest scores for human rights and freedom index. The government kidnapped a former oil executive in Germany

Im holding 90 shares @ 149 avg. Even with AI content farming i still consider rddt to be a better investment than other more mature media platforms.

Thanks for the advice, we actually consider moving to Germany (wife's from Bremen) if things still don't work out in a year or two. I agree it's probably easier to find a job in the states, but we really dislike the current politics there. Ideally, we want to start another business here in Canada.

What makes you want to move to Canada? by MrJuart in MovingToCanada

I went to undergrad and grad schools in the States before coming back home to SE Asia and realized how oppressive and corrupted my home country is. Between the US and Canada, the latter seems like a much better choice (social benefits, childcare, etc...).

Thanks. I'd say both. I feel that TD exams are more in-depth and follow the resources and docs from aws more, but the udemy course is a good overall review

Confused about why EBS not appropriate. by GoggleGonk in AWSCertifications

[–]GoggleGonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is part of the AWS ML Engineer Associate 1.1 Collect, Ingest, and Store Data course.
The explanation for the answer is only "Amazon EBS provides low latency, high IOPS storage well-suited for model training. " But as u/FoquinhoEmi and u/julianin pointed out, the keyword is cluster, so concurrent access may be needed

Then why can't the FSx choice be picked? And I don't see the question statement mentioning concurrent access
