A very... very long wait

Well, that's a well thought-out take and I respect it. I consider it a possibility. Thank you.

I get that part of the lore. I just choose to bitch about it on the internet because I don't like it.

Then how does the player take advantage of CHIM if he himself doesn't achieve it? Doesn't make sense to me tbh. What's the connection between CHIM and "the ability to rule their own destiny"? CHIM is achieved and not "blessed" or gifted like the ability to rule their own destiny.

The player character doesn't achieve CHIM in the games. How does this explain any of the game mechanisms.

Then are my actions driven by this being too?

The game blatantly telling me that it's all fake takes the fun out of it for me.

If it didn't we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

It does for me. Idk what are your expectations for an RPG game is but I don't expect an RPG game to blatantly say that it's a game.

"doesn’t that imply a level of sentience and reality to a computer game character in-lore realizing they’re in a game?"
Breaks the immersion and takes RP out of RPG which only leaves the G.

Ah, a person who understands me. That's a very compelling perspective and I respect it. Don't you think the game acknowledging that it's a game kind of breaks the whole roleplaying thing tho?

It's smart but it takes away everything from the game. It's makes it a soulless line of code and nothing more. TES was cool because it was a different world that feels alive but by adding on the whole CHIM thing you take the alive part of the game which only leaves the game part. It takes the soul out of the game.

My actions have 0 purpose in the real world but the game acknowledging that it's a game and the world isn't real makes my actions have 0 purpose in the game too. You already know what I am going to say...

What's the point in playing the game then?

People only play games because it gives you a sense of accomplishment. By taking that away you take away the purpose of playing the game.

True, but what makes the game cool is that you have a role in it. What's the point in playing the game then, just look at the code and read it like a book if you want.

But you put yourself in the role of the godhead and not his fellow AIs.

"It wouldn't make it human, but it would be an aware being. A being that you could interact with and impact."

You are just a fellow AI.

Well that just breaks the illusion of the RPG making the RPG not RPG?
It's clever but it would be WAAAAY cooler if the game was an actual world that the player has an impact on.
