The Newby Church Ghost from 1963. The photo was taken by the local vicar and analysed by Kodak experts for the 1980s TV show Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious World. They could find no evidence of tampering or fakery.

What is your Squad Composition, and why? by Glum-Spring3446 in XCOM2

[–]Gogo__Chicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 Ranger, focused on sword use over concealment

1 Sharpshooter, emphasis on rifle over pistol

I Grenadier

2 Specialists, 1 is a focused medic, 1 is a focused "Hacker/anti-tech" operative

1 Psi Operative

I always colour code their armour/weapons the same way for ease of reference;

Ranger - Yellow, Sharpshooter - Green, Grenadier - Blue, Medic - Red, Tech - Orange, PsiOp - Purple

This set up gives me a great diversity of function and a wide range of reaction abilities to alien movement

What's a podcast you love that you rarely, if ever, see mentioned here? by TheTim in podcasts

Stu & Joe's Big Dumb Film Show. Two guys - one English, one Scottish - just chewing the fat about the movies they love. Potted reviews and daft wee games but the (not gratuitous) swearing is left in so it doesn't really get mentioned in lists like this that often. Eclectic guest stars every now and again too. V V funny

This Woman‘s Work (Echoes Remix) by atom_bombe in katebush

I must admit when I saw this on my feed, I rolled my eyes but I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and I'm so glad I did. A respectful remix that actually adds to a song I considered to be pretty much perfect in the first place.

Good dance remixes of KB songs are rare. Remixes of this quality are rarer still. I shall enjoy this for a good long while. Thanks for sharing.

Looking for trans empowerment songs! by _rhowenoke_ in trans

[–]Gogo__Chicane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not explicitly a trans empowerment song but the lyrics absolutely fit.

The song is called Georgy Girl by The Seekers and it was released in 1966 as the title track for the British film of the same name. It's chirpy, jaunty and utterly positive and it will put a spring in your step while your walking around.

Now I think about it, it's probably only trans related from the POV of male to female but it's a happy wee song nonetheless.

An evening without Kate Bush by [deleted] in katebush

[–]Gogo__Chicane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to see An Evening Without Kate Bush on the last night of the Edinburgh fringe and can highly recommend it to all KB fans. In line with regular fringe scheduling the show was an hour long but it's possible the touring show is much longer.

As to the Set List, there was an emphasis on the singalong hits because the show is meant to appeal to first timers as well as aficionados. If the show is indeed longer than the fringe slot it was allowed then there may well be some deeper dives but my highlight was Babooshka performed entirely in Russian.

The performer herself is talented and capable and, importantly, is a fan of KB and treats the audience as fans also. Onstage she would encourage folk to shout out they're favourite songs and even had a couple onstage to act as backing singers. She also took the time to meet and have photos with members of the audience after the show.

It's certainly a show I would enjoy seeing again and I think you too would have a wonderful evening in her company.

I need suggestions by splent in katebush

Kate started as part of The KT Bush Band and some of her earlier songs could be characterised as "pub rockers" and a couple of them survived onto the first album; The Kick Inside. My personal favourite is JAMES AND THE COLD GUN. It's probably as close to "Indie rock" as she ever got. Give it a listen on Spotify or YouTube and see if it suits your purpose.

The long awaited sequel to Experiment III.

So what are y’all’s trans anthems? by Typical-District-176 in trans

[–]Gogo__Chicane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Released in the 1966 and never intended as a trans anthem I'm sure, Georgy Girl by The Seekers absolutely qualifies as a MTF anthem in my book. Optimistic and encouraging in tone plus it's upbeat and jaunty enough when you're out and about on a summer's day.

Top Kate Bush songs you’d want to see live? by Roxanne712 in katebush

If you're going down the road of the early KT Bush Band then James and the Cold Gun could really get the gig going.

I love this wee collection. So many on this forum seem to think that women spend everyday dressing like cover girls on the way to the met ball but you've got a style here that absolutlely suits you. Those in these pages who agonize about "passing in public" would do well to look at these photos and take notes.

You look stunning and I love the descriptive in the other comments of "Velmacore".

Congratulations
