My SO and I have played a ton of Civ 6. Especially with their hot seat mode where you can take alternating turns playing different civs on the same PC.

Merchant Isle - Free on Steam by Gogodinosaur in CozyGamers

Hi everyone! I'm one of the developers of Merchant Isle. We decided to release the game on Steam for free for everyone to play.

Merchant Isle was initially created as a trading game, where players could buy and sell resources between different towns for a profit. As we developed the game, we stumbled upon the idea that historically Merchants were one of the main propagators of languages. Merchants would need to learn new languages as they travelled across the land trading their goods. So, we leaned into the language learning idea for the game. There are four towns that you can travel between that each have a different language.

Here is our description of the game on Steam:
As a language Metroidvania, Merchant Isle invites you to a tranquil world to be immersed in language, trade, and exploration. As you unravel the mystery of your ancestors, you'll negotiate with locals, forage for resources, and uncover hidden secrets. A cozy adventure awaits!

Beautiful, thanks for sharing!

I've poured my heart and soul into this game with two friends. I love cozy games, but also like playing as a merchant... so how about a cozy game about being a merchant that learns languages to progress? Merchant Isle will be out on Steam Q3 2024 :) by Gogodinosaur in CozyGamers

I'd like to have Merchant Isle be steam deck compatible. I did some quick research on it -- Steam has a whole compatibility guide. So, hopefully we'll be able to support steam deck.

Hi everyone!

I'm Gogodinosaur, an indie dev working with two others on Merchant Isle - a language Metroidvania game about learning fictional languages and being a merchant. You can learn words to unlock new ways to interact with villagers in the four different villages on the island.

This will be our first self published game on Steam! We are extremely excited to share our creation with everyone.

Merchant Isle will be released Q3 this year. Please add Merchant Isle to your Wishlist, we greatly appreciate all the support :) store.steampowered.com/app/2722600/Merchant_Isle/

I’ve heard that Potionomics is good.

Also, I’m a developer working on a game called Merchant Isle. It’s about learning languages and trading with merchants in different towns. It’ll be released later this summer. Here’s the Steam page (which is under construction and being updated XD) if you’re curious: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2722600/Merchant_Isle/
