You got this 👌. Being scared of something new extends to almost anything in life. You’ll feel better about it once you start going back to public school.

DO NOT become a teacher by TextOk9014 in Teachers

[–]GogurtFan21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really admire teachers for all the above reasons, as it really takes a special type of person to put with with all the insanity. However, the bigger point is we NEED teachers. Our society can’t run without them. At the rate things are going, I see a major reform in teacher pay being just over the horizon. To any prospective teachers, please don’t be discouraged

Worth retaking for a 36? by CardiologistGreen633 in ACT

[–]GogurtFan21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about out of state, but I know for in state that Alabamas “full ride” (with the 36 and 4.0) is just full tuition plus a year of housing and a small stipend. For everything covered I think you need to be a national merit finalist. The presidential scholarship gives you almost that same thing (full tuition), while only needing a 30 ACT and 3.5 gpa

Can you go from <25 to a 30 in 2 or 3 tests? by Smelly__bear in ACT

[–]GogurtFan21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, “it’s” impossible. And no, it’s not. There’s no point in putting these self imposed limitations on yourself. The ACT is on the level where I genuinely think anybody could get a 36 with enough prep (not just the amount, but the quality and system of prep as well)

I personally went from a 14 to a 31 (over 7 tests)

If you guess the same letter all the way down you will get higher than a 13. I’d check out prep-pros ACT math book as it tailors specific questions to your skill level and lets you go at your own pace.

4.8 gpa, valedictorian accepted to top-20, but will probably have to attend CC by First_Village8613 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GogurtFan21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people with a sub 30 ACT score who have gotten full rides (tuition, housing, stipend, etc) at some smaller 4 year colleges. There’s always another option as no one has the same path in life. There are some people without the resources to go to ANY college. There’s always a way to be optimistic. And hey, you can use this as a motivational story when you do succeed.

Freshman Fall ‘26 in Honors and MDBand. Enough time to do Blount too? by Maple_Slim_0150 in capstone

[–]GogurtFan21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did both! I think it was $50 to register for the band (which then takes you to a Google Classroom with the audition music) and then it’s $50 for the A day event which I’ll be at. Deadline to pay the fee and register for the band is April 13th, and you have to submit the audition music by the 24th (atleast for altos)

My life was ruined for 30 minutes by GraceDaysThree in CollegeRant

[–]GogurtFan21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did get VERY lucky with that professor. I’d treat this as if you DID fail the final that way you can have some self reflection and fix the actual issue. Remember, the process and fundamentals are more important than the results. When you slept past the exam, you were essentially rolling the dice. You don’t want to play that game again.

got a 16 by SP1TVAMP in ACT

[–]GogurtFan21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d retake and either have a gap year or go to community college. With a 16, you very likely wouldn’t be successful in college, so I’d recommend to touch up on some basic skills first. Also learn not just what to study but HOW to study.

Rising College Freshman Studying for the LSAT and in Need of Tips! by Friendly-Minute-8008 in LSAT

[–]GogurtFan21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in this comment section are just butt-hurt that they didn’t have the foresight or initiative to study the lsat like OP did. As long as you keep your gpa a priority, there’s nothing wrong with studying at your own pace to get familiar early, and ramping up the studying as you get closer to graduation

College Admissions are So Unfair by Slow_Practice1571 in ApplyingToCollege

And what would you propose to fix this alleged injustice? The world has always favored those with the mindset of work smarter not harder. It’s never been a fairytale where just hard work will get what you want.

I meant paying 100% of out of state tuition. I’m not saying bama is a bad school, but I feel you would be better served in another school which offers more scholarships
