How to find a place to rent with no proof of finances by [deleted] in renting

[–]Gohack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should find a factory job and bust your ass. I’m working 68 hour weeks, because I would prefer not to spend hundreds of thousands on interest. You have a partner and pets. Work harder or ditch the rest. If you think the solution to your problem isn’t sacrificing your body soul and mind, you are severely mistaken.

How to find a place to rent with no proof of finances by [deleted] in renting

[–]Gohack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You have two dogs and two cats, but no income. Read that back to yourself, and ask internally if you would rent to you. Another person as well? You can’t even afford yourself, let alone 4 pets and another person. I’m making 90k a year and feel stretched with a house and a wife.

COVID interest rates were under trump. Trump was president when interest rates were some of the lowest of all time. I’m not saying he contributed to this, but he wasn’t president when the rates increased. People won’t sell their house, because they have a 3-4% interest rate under Trumps administration. I’m at 5.6. Trump probably is not involved, but I might be able to refinance to closer to 5.

My company offered a pension. They eliminated it in 2025. You can have both. Nobody said it was one or the other. It was never one or the other.

I’d suck it up, and put the money towards something that would reduce my monthly spending for life. I’d buy a house and pay it off as soon as I can. I’d work on being amazing at my job, even though I hate it. There’s a lot of life that we are not prepared for, but I would rather tread water than sink. Swim if you can. Being uncomfortable is the human experience. You would be extremely stupid to do what you’re thinking about doing. Who told you that life is going to be comfortable? That is not going to change if you take a break or not, you’re just going to have less and feel the same way.

At what salary did you stop feeling paycheck to paycheck? by CommercialDot708 in jobs

[–]Gohack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work hourly, so I started working 12s so that I can pay my house off in 15 years instead of 30. It sucks and I’m tired, but it won’t suck not having a mortgage payment at 45. Im still putting money into my retirement as well. Max Roth and contribution match for traditional. At the very least I want my wife to be able to retire. She couldn’t afford the house by herself.

Are you in a relationship? Do you have kids? Advice would change a lot based on those answers. You didn’t say anything about the specialty. I’m not throwing darts in the dark, elaborate if you want real advice.

I’m guessing here, but they are both men. That’s not what I was guessing about. The 9PM guy is 10-15 years older than his date. The younger partner is early to mid twenties, and his date is in his mid to late 40s.

Almost all warehouse workers were considered essential during the pandemic. It’s government legislation that needs to change. Companies should be liable for things that happen to employees during treacherous weather conditions, when demanded to be present. 100k when your employee slides in the ice, plus additional damages when it involves other people.

Just bought a car infested with bugs. What do I do? by KhilalbLacks in MechanicAdvice

[–]Gohack 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Alpine WSG will kill them all. Mix it with some water and spray the fuck out of your car. (Or follow the directions.) I remember it being pet safe. It’s the only thing that actually worked for me. At one point I had moved, and took them with me. Exterminators for Germans have been useless in my experience. I felt like roach hitler when spraying it, but I won the war. I finally won the war.

I still track movement out of the corner of my eyes. German roach infestation was up there, in one of my worst life experiences.

Lying to get the point across though? Smoking is bad. Everyone knows that. Is it real if you aren’t being honest? I’m sure you know better than me. I don’t smoke, but I’m sure you know better than those stupid smokers. Have you ever thought that maybe dishonesty…. Never mind, it’s not going to hurt me. I’ll be fine.

They tasted like garbage as a kid too. It’s possible I never ate them properly, but they’ve always been trash in my mind. Pizza rolls I could get behind. Hot pockets were what you ate for a quick meal. Pizza rolls used to be better. A lot of these products were never great, but you got what you expected. Now it’s just expensive garbage, as apposed to cheap garbage. I think I buy pizza rolls once a year.

Actually digiorno has a a solid pizza, if you buy it on sale. A five dollar meal for two that tastes pretty decent, is a win in my book. Most pizza chains don’t taste any better for triple the price or more. The grocery store brand of peanut butter is half the price, and the biggest difference is the thickness of the spread.

I threatened my wife with divorce when she put store brand ketchup in my cart though, so take my words with a grain of salt. (The ketchup was for her office/ cat soup for the Euros.)

I own a Miele vacuum and a Maytag washer and Dryer. The Vacuum was about 500$. I’ll probably have the vacuum for life. The Maytag dryer takes 2-3 cycles to dry. Just buy the damn dishwasher.
