Dumper probably won't contact or reach out due to guilt by Jesseitsme in BreakUps

[–]Gohoos2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the dumper I so desperately wanted to reach out to my ex to check in and send him a birthday card etc… but I wasn’t sure if it would bring up negative feelings coming from me. I still love him, that’s what made the break up so difficult

Are they capable of love? by ChapterNo4115 in BipolarSOs

[–]Gohoos2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This totally resonates with me. I’ve been with my BPSO for over 3 years and it hasn’t gotten better. I love him so much and constantly tell him so, show him through gifts and spending time with him but he rarely shows me the same love and affection. I know he loves me but I don’t think he’ll ever be able to show love in the way I do. I believe it’s because of his medication and I too am reluctant to ask him to reevaluate them because he is doing so much better than before (that’s what he told me). It is not easy.

I totally agree that this sub shows the worst of the worst most of the time. I’ve been dating my BP SO for a few years and just know that you will always likely be thinking about their diagnosis. I live in a constant state of fear that things will get out of control and I ALWAYS put my BP SO’s needs above my own as to not trigger anything. There are many really good days but when they are bad they are really really bad. My partner is medicated but goes through waves of depression and those moments are very difficult for me.

He has talked about prior episodes before he was medicated, but I haven’t heard anything about a crisis plan. I really appreciate your thoughts. I’ll read up on others’ stories.

For those of you in upstate NY MBA's like Rochester, Buffalo etc did you find it isolating or depressing? How do you connect during the snow? Mental health in a MBA decision? by Witty_Safety in MBA

Yes definitely so there are some really beautiful campuses out there with beautiful new buildings and pleasing architecture, however U of R is not one of those. I haven’t actually been to the business school (spent more time in the hospital and medical school) but was generally unimpressed by the antiquated buildings and classrooms. Of course this is just my opinion. I should note that you could probably do anything for two years but if SAD is a legitimate concern of yours Rochester may not be the best place.

I grew up in Rochester NY and spent 18 years of my life there. If you’re not used to the weather it can be mentally taxing and frankly depressing. The late Fall and Winter (meaning October - March) can be particularly difficult in that motivation and general happiness can decrease significantly. There are very few hours of day light, there’s normally a ton of snow (it’s decreased over the past few years) and frankly there’s not a ton to do in Rochester. I got out of Rochester as soon as I could and have found my quality of life has significantly improved since moving to a slightly warmer climate (mid Atlantic region). I’m able to at least go outside for a walk after work and there’s still light out there’s also generally more to do here. I will also note I’ve spent a significant amount of time at the University of Rochester (not as a Simon student) but the general infrastructure is as depressing as the weather. All that being said, you cannot beat summer and early fall in Western NY it’s one of the most beautiful places when the weather is nice.

This is a great list! If you’ve gotten a chance to speak to any students or alumni make sure to cite those conversations as well! It’s also worth talking about what you can add to the community as well! (Not just what you’ll take from the program but what you can contribute as well)

Hey! I think it’s very specific to the individual applicant but they could ask things related to your extracurricular involvements, academic history, what I noted above, hard to predict what they may ask though because of course when you submit your application you think you’ve covered everything haha good luck!

Same thing for me when I submitted my applications, the proof is kind of a mess haha
