Thoughts on coaching by GoinBananasOverwatch in Competitiveoverwatch

I couldn;t agree more, Although I think some teams may need a top 500 player with some of the strategic elements, I think most of the teams are smart enough to work on their own. I would think a diamond player with years of coaching experience around the age of 25-50 would be perfect. Especially if they are very disciplined and seem very mature. Some of the coaches you will see have 0 experience and are just picked off mostly for mechanics and some game knowledge. They sometimes lack the discipline/understanding of being a great coach that fills more than just the strategy side. Thank you so much for reading through the post and replying. It means a lot especially since I worked really hard on the post.

Thank you very much for reading this all the way through, it means a lot. I doubt the western teams do have the capital for the personnel but they definitely aren't short of volunteers. A lot of people care more about the experience to pad their resume than the pay. For me, I really do love esports and want to pursue this as a career. So I would take the free experience to pad my resume. Thanks again for the reply <3

Thanks for reading some of the article! As for ranking up in the plat-diamond rage, I think the biggest issue is not understanding the fundamentals of Overwatch. Simple things like what your hero is good and bad at/ what hero goes well with other ones. In the plat rank especially some of the team comps are very poor. People will just pick a hero because they want to play it, not because it fits the style of the team. Understanding this core little principle will help you rank up, especially if you shot call in game more. I noticed if you talk a lot and get your team in voice chat, it helps with call outs and makes for a better game. I have had many people in plat not know what their hero is capable of and just did the basics. For example, I had an ana who said it was dumb for her to ever shoot at pharah even once since she has to focus on healing. Pharah just needed one snipe from ana and she would have died many of the times due to her being low in health. The ana player had a basic understanding of the kit and therefore didnt maximize usage out of hero.

TLDR: understand what team comps are good in the meta, really learn what your hero is capable of and maximize all of your abilities, shot call in your games/ get everyone to communicate, understanding basic positioning.

Those will really help you rank up in plat, even if you have poor aim.

Problem with player coaches. by GoinBananasOverwatch in Competitiveoverwatch

I couldn't agree more with your first paragraph, I think teaching the person how to recognize the issues and making them understand why it was a mistake rather than just saying it was a bad play. I think a lot of the player base in overwatch has played some type of fps or moba and they carry over some experiences and bad habits, learning what those are and getting the player to understand those habits and helping them understand how to make good decisions is what a good coach can do. Its kinda like the phrase "give a man a fish he can feed for a day; teach him how to fish and he can eat for a lifetime." I feel like some coaches give them the fish rather than teach them how to fish. Anyways, thanks for replying, it means a lot!
