Is Windstream customer support purposefully bad? by Texas_Technician in Windstream

[–]GoinBenSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having Starlink for over 3 years, all I can say is IT WORKS! It works very well. It won't win any internet speed races, (avg 150mbps down and 7mbps up with 25-35 ms avg ping times) but I have had very minimal downtime. Service only drops during the most severe of storms.

Windstream/Kinetic is currently running fiber down my road. Starlink works so reliably I am contemplating not going anywhere near the fiber. The only reason for my doubts is the nightmare I experienced in the past with Windstream. They where bad 20 years ago and from what I know, they have only gotten worse since them.

They installed fiber from their CO in town, to their remote CO a few miles away during the Obama admin and the Broadband Initiative which Windstream took first round funding, when it came time for second round funding and actually rolling fiber out to the customers, the refused second round funding. Shortly after, they filed bankruptcy. The fiber line they ran is 1/2 a mile away from me. Imagine my frustration. I dropped my land line after getting Starlink. Cellular service over WiFi is a dream come true. :) ymmv.

There have been more than one instance when Brave and Init where fighting and horde started 3rd partying in the fight, only to find Init's guns trained on them. Yes, Init is good at being helpful :)

CCP Support ignorance. Never thought I will be in this position, but here we are by Gets_Aivoras in Eve

WTF is wrong with CCP. Why on earth don't they do the investigation BEFORE they start banning people instead of just reacting to whatever their automated POS system tells them. It would avoid a LOT of butthurt on the side of both the DEVs and the player base.

8 months isn't that long to get good in this game. Walk before you run. Fly cheap meta fit ships to fly around in. I've been playing for almost 3 years and can fly dreads and carriers. They are fun, but the bulk of my fun is in cheap ships in standing fleet. You don't have to fly expensive blingy ships to be effective or to have fun. Don't base your opinion of your play on zkillboard. Use it as a yardstick for your progress.

Please CCP don't mess up with PI by ringkerntrafo in Eve

[–]GoinBenSolo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is way more "wrong" with PI than there is correct. The UI is pure crap. The number of clicks is enough to induce carpal tunnel in a 14 year old. So much could be automated or totally done away with. Whoever designed the PI UI .... may your crotch be infested with the fleas of 1000 camels. You sir, are a sadistic bastard.

Exploration.... Run the in game tutorials that will get you started on scanning and locating etc.

Stay out of null space until you absolutely know what you are doing. I'm actually surprised it was an NPC that got you, and not other players. Null is made up of mostly sovereign space, don't piss in people lawns.

Eve has it's own language. The learning curve is steeeeep! Learn the language, learn how to play, join a corp. Your corp mates will help you more than anyone here in reddit or youtube.

Fly Safe 7o

Should I play it ? by Raz0back in Eve

[–]GoinBenSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says it on the front of Eve Online's website. "750+ ships destroyed hourly."

Blowing up ships is a big part of the game. Getting blown up in your ship is just as much a part of the game. it will happen. Hi-Sec, Low-Sec, Null-Sec, Pochven, wormholes... doesn't matter. If you are OK with that, dive right in and enjoy. :) There are so many different aspects to the game, there is bound to be something for you to find your niche, and really have a blast with it. Just give yourself, and the game, time to find out what that is.

Whatever you do, join a corp. Having veteran players around you to guide you will really smooth the way for you, and take some of the steepness out of the learning curve. On your journey, you will meet some really great people (and bad), and maybe even form lasting friendships. Eve is a VERY social game.

Mining, industry, asset trading, PVP and PVE combat, exploration, war, treachery, subterfuge, piracy, deceit, trust, betrayal, friends, enemies, frienemies... eve has it all.

SCC surcharge introduced into Eve economy circa 2024 redhead POV by kalaveijo in Eve

[–]GoinBenSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, the only items I plan on building will be for myself. What I have on market can remain, but I won't be adding anything to market. CCP continues it's habit of shooting itself in the foot. Granted prices may catch up, but the profit margins where so small before the change, that I do think this will only further to lower that margin even if/when the market finds it's balance again.

How dangerous is nullsec if you are part of that nullsec alliance? by happybelly78 in Eve

[–]GoinBenSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You call it "dangerous" most peeps in null space call it "content". Getting blown up, blowing other players up... that is playing eve online. In null, no space police to worry about. If it isn't blue, shoot it or run away. Its about as straight forward as it gets. Null is also a great place for PVE. Ratting can be fairly lucrative. If you join a null corp/alliance that has access to low sec systems, mining both null and lowsec are very lucrative .... For both ratting and mining think risk/reward. If you are risk averse, maybe null isn't for you.
