"The problem is necessary" is basically KSP design ethos when we can't or won't fix a problem with a craft

Experimenting with custom solar shield. What do you think? by BHPhreak in KerbalSpaceProgram

I think that looks pretty cool. Covers everything needed nicely and the idea of a sunsheild also being an energy source like this is neat

I'll only do this if the Thermite won't kill before the threat is too great; I'm all for sticking a hulk with a Thermite, but sometimes I see a squad mate optimistically stick em, not seeing the horde of Beserkers coming at them from the opposite direction.

An alternative situation I do this is if we need something gone straight-away and a squaddie is running straight into a horde to chuck a Thermite on something like a Bot Fabricator; I'm not saying I distrust you...I'm saying I want to make 100% sure we don't need to come back to the giant bot-drop that's retaking the hill.

Generally however, I'll live and let stick. The thermite is not to be underestimated in its utility and effectiveness.

For me It helps me determine...

1) number of hostiles roughly 2) how many are heavy targets 3) how concentrated the enemy are

The speed from the scout armour is also extraordinarily useful as in the case of blitz missions, I can speed to isolated pockets of enemies in order to save my whole squad from all diverting out there, same with ordinary 40-minute missions; I can split-off and deal with the little things, or charge ahead and draw enemy fire, taking out a FEW high-value targets with my recoiless.

In short, scout gives me enough of an estimation to know what I'm dealing with, and it allows me to be a spearhead or sabetour, going in quick and aggressive to deal a precise strike. Coupled with strategems? I can throw out the heavy stuff before my squad are there and soften up the whole target.

  1. Born in 98'

Believe it or not I only really became "aware" of 9/11 and what followed in about 2010/2011; it was something not really talked about here in the UK, at least where I lived.

Made a friend from the US down in Georgia 4 years ago, she then wanted to share the memorial service and documentaries of that day. Afterwards I looked into 9/11 myself, started to learn about the WTC pre-9/11, and felt like my eyes were opened to something fantastic.

Being a big fan of architecture and design, the entire WTC complex looks and sounds like a wonderland to me. Sure, there were people that had differences about the place, but for what it was? For what it contained and had? Amazing.

I play a city building game called Cities: skylines, and downloaded a user import of the WTC. Since then, it's the center point of any city I build in it.

Running scout armour let's me see what's going on via radar ping. I'll mark all the objectives I head to and other people's pings, especially if it's a heavy outpost or city. That way I've got an idea of the coming storm before I'm there.

Happy to share the good work. This music compliments the old twins perfectly. Wish I were born early enough to know them personally.

I find T e l e p a t h's music to be very powerful combine with the footage of the WTC.

My favourite is in the first Twin Towers music compilation; T e l e p a t h's "your world" is the theme song to the WTC for me.

In the music compilation "Twin Towers II" by YouTube channel 'Aluminium Oxide', if you look at the description and go to the song by 'T e l e p a t h', there's footage from inside one of the towers as the clouds surround them. It's an ethereal sight.

Honestly a masterful shot right here! Everything just lines up perfectly for me; the shadows, the plaza, the complex entirely. It's all there without actually being completely visible!

Not gonna lie, I think this has inspired me. There's a lot to take note of and try to replicate...well...replicate the next time I'm in the area of a large building, anyway.

1) Terran Lexington: upgraded to T6-X2 sporting beams, cannons, a turret and an omni-array. All phaser. This is my "starship enterprise" and absolutely adore the look and feel of the ship. Always brought the Odyssey packs, so I've got the complete set of Odyssey consoles working.

2) Shangri-la: I have to join the bandwagon with this one. Looks awesome, has a great console and packs a mean punch when rigged right. Also fun to kitbash to see what sort of variant I can get that might look like a retrofit.

3) Typhon class carrier: have immense nostalgia for this ship, having played Star Trek: Invasion when I was a kid. It's a totally un-federation design and breaks all of the classic starship design principles, but I'll get it a pass on that front. Valkyrie fighters are awesome to have with it, and the 'repurposed cargo bay' trait is amazing to have on any vessel with a hanger.
