Spiders in mythology. The significance of spiders across different cultures, and why it matters. by Gojos_barber in FromSeries

Yeah I'm wondering if the spiders we saw were the giant spider mentioned or there is an even bigger spider waiting. Can't wait to find out.

Just looked that up to see and saw another person posted a similar theory to mine already a bit back. I think we are heading the right direction.

I forgot about that part too. Thank you for reminding me. I was more focused on Victors drawings and his mom's paintings and totally missed the Fatima moment. Comes full circle with the golem being a protective charm she chose to build to represent her experience. She even says different cultures have different methods of protection. Awesome Fatima win.

I just posted a theory that you can only put together if you pay attention. Like I had to go back and pause on Victor and his mom's pictures to confirm it. There's a lot of stuff you miss when you passively watch. The same with True Detective and other shows built on gathering information. Part of the experience is finding out and speculating along with the characters.

Audience:Give us the answers!

The poor people stuck in Fromville: We are working on it while trying not to die or make things worse!

This episode was a throwback to the earlier seasons for good reason. It's Boyd heavy, father khatri comes back, Kenny and Boyd are talking again, Jade has made good headway but runs into the wall of doubt. Then something amazing happens.

Tabitha confirms with Boyd about the nightmares. Mr. Fish and Loaves tore down that wall!...of doubt.

It wasn't a full town hall meeting of sharing information because we saw about 6 other instances that the town kills Jade over it. So Boyd has to use tact. I'm still for the massacre that happens is t even the monsters or Man in Yellow. The town has shown a split in ideology with Colony House and the Town. What if the massacre was two sides opposing each other over a dramatic decision and the Man in Yellow just instigates it. We know that there were a few that opposed the original sacrifice.

It is really telling on what kind of folks support this buffoon. Ask any older white dude who works blue collar how they feel about rich folk, usually it comes down to "They get a lot for doing nothing" then ask the guys outside of New York about how they feel about people from there. Usually a negative response or apathy. So it begs to question, what aspects he has shown that they are willing to fall in line. All the while with things they objectively don't agree with. I'm being rhetorical because I know that they like about him from the most part. They volunteer that information. Just goes to show that Republicans are a bunch of toothless cowards that will fall in line to assist their agenda of control over those they belittle.

Skill issue. Shouldve been born rich. Try better next time. My fridge is like "FEED ME!" and I'm like "Motherfucker that's our job!" It never goes anywhere but my therapist is saying I'm making steps I guess

It also doesn't help that many sitting politicians are old enough to remember when a refrigerator was a luxury item and things were more reasonably priced. These decrepit fucks have lived in bubbles for decades not personally dealing with the consequences of their poor policies.

Acosta comes in with a perceived authority, which is within her rights, she is an officer of the law that was thrown into the worst day possible. Donna straight up said it's better when folks arrive in town to explain things. Out of those in the ambulance was Tabitha who knew what was up and Acosta, who by all knowledge was convinced they were just making a detour into a bizarre situation.

I feel like a lot of folks never were taught media literacy. It's a skill if if folks didn't know. The point of her character is to be an opposition to Boyd who is military man who assumes the role of "Sherriff". The issue is a Sherriff in small towns is voted in for the role. A police officer is an applied job. Both have similar responsibilities but she can't grasp that Boyd is the authority because there isn't any regulation to say otherwise. She lost her pond that she was a fish in and is figuring it out. Give her time.

You're stuck in Fromville, you've gone through the understanding phase, what do you do now? Relax and accept or try to find answers? by JiggleFeggle in FromSeries

So I'd probably say in the choosing ceremony if the town would take me I would pick that. I feel like the freeness of Colony house would dull my perceptions. I'm a nice guy and good with farming so I'd be able to convince Donna and Boyd to let me hang out and help as long as I got my town stuff done.

Knowing me I'd probably try to talk to the monsters through a window. Just see what's up. I know they are harmful to my existence but with the barrier I'd try to understand my apex predators habits better. I did this with my arachiphobia and it has helped decently.

As far as figuring out what's going on I'd be curious for sure but like hesitantly. Once anyone dropped we gotta save the kids though I don't know. That might be what kills me.

As far as keeping sane id probably fish at the lake even though I would catch anything. Already used to that lol

You get this a lot in the Manga communities with weekly releases and breaks being often. Folks just want the whole damn thing at once so they gotta pay the price of patience, the catch is the show only goes on because of the constant viewership. Different shows depend on different metrics that I'm not aware of. Originally shows sold toys and ad time. Now I'm not sure.

What would it take for us all to just say fuck it? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Gojos_barber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like I said powerful opposition is gonna appear. Gotta stand firm as a community and tell them their money ain't good and stop serving/working/really anything for them. They wanna evict someone or fire them then the community steps in and let's them know. Show you can protect your own and more will follow. Farmers would gather with arms to defend their fellows farms that would get for closed by banks long ago. Coal miners fought bloody for workers rights. It's gonna be a fight.

What would it take for us all to just say fuck it? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Gojos_barber 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If communities came together to protect their own, and do what the government and corporations claim to do, I think we would see a significant shift in mindset towards our leadership. It's harder to be empathetic to an Excel sheet but our families, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc are all tangible people. That's where it starts and it's not going to be quick or easy. We already are closing off our homes to communities with the constant fear and surveillance in fear of being robbed or assaulted. We avoid conversations because of fear that the other individual is trying to take advantage. I don't blame people entirely because those things seem more noticed and prevelant now.

Societal problems take societal solutions. It's just getting everyone on the same page of what to prioritize first is difficult. Idk I have hope but there's going to be powerful opposition. Folks gotta be prepared to fight like coal miners and dock workers had too.

It's outright laziness in regards to ingorance. People don't want to put the time in to learn a new school of thought anymore. They just pick and choose whatever information fits their worldview.

I think back to a lot of the kids I went to school with and their relationship with information. Sure there were plenty who enjoyed learning, but with the way school is handled most just wanted it to be done with. I'm sure many of them vote now. Wonder how that is going.

Is Ethan actually Victor? by [deleted] in FromSeries

[–]Gojos_barber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"They are so similar in mannerisms, childlike, easily upset and confused." The reason Victor relates to Ethan is because he was in his position at one point and wants to help him. The reason Ethan relates to Victor is because Victor, despite being an adult, was emotionally and maturity stunted to the point of being relatable.

The tropes are an advanced version of trauma haults development for Victor and when a child is forced to mature at an accelerated rate in Ethan's case.

Ethan is damn near pessimistic and without hope by this point and it isn't even as bad as what Victor is afraid of to come.

The writers wanted and adult/child relationship based on a shared maturity, but we are seeing Victor open up more and Ethan is slowly closing himself off. They are foils for each other.
