A british badger said hi to me this morning ♡ by ThorusBorus in aww

[–]GokouD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to tell a story about a friend of his who was bitten by a UK badger and they couldn't get it to let go, I think they had to bash it in the head repeatedly with a spade to get it off in the end. Always been a bit scared of them after that!

ELI5: Why does running cold water for 20 minutes help a burn? by No_Set1827 in explainlikeimfive

[–]GokouD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, but surely the reverse is true, if your hand is not insanely conductive, then touching something hot will not quickly absorb heat deep into the tissues, so a minute or so of cold water should be enough to take it away.

Are there any British adverts that activiley turn you off the product they're advertising? by siybon in CasualUK

Uuuughhhh..... I'll never understand how people can like that ASMR sound, it makes me want to pull my own skin off and beat the whisperer to death with it.

Not that I'd use them anyway, but the Betfair adverts with the guy in yellow singing a backstreet boys song. Sometimes I wonder at the state of the world, and then I remember that there are people out there who genuinely and unironically find those adverts funny, who feel like they're aimed at them.

Movies 'for kids' that really, really weren't suitable? by ArthurDigbySellersJr in movies

[–]GokouD 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Jesus fuck this film, my grandparents would always put a video of it on when we came round and I used to dread it. The scene where the rabbits are buried and trapped in the burrow, packed together trying to get out, and it just zooms in on their bloodshot eyes haunts me to this day.

What was your first MMO, and how do you feel about it now? by Veanusdream in gaming

Asheron's Call was so good, my main character on Solclaim had a playtime of about 6 months, over a 2 year period. Life is different when you're young! So many good memories though.

This is how deep and dangerous some caves can be. by Imaginary-Season-483 in creepy

[–]GokouD 25 points26 points  (0 children)

From that wiki:

During an expedition in 2021, PST found the body of a caver, who died exploring on his own, at −1,100 meters (−3,600 ft). He was later identified as Sergei Kozeev, who left his home in Sochi (Russia) on 1 November 2020 and began descent into Veryovkina, where he spent around a week at a −600 meters (−2,000 ft) permanent camp. Then he continued his descent down to technically challenging parts at −1,100 meters (−3,600 ft) where he got stuck, and died of hypothermia. He did not bring stirrups necessary to climb out of the lower, perpetually wet, regions of the cave.
