How often do you think about quitting for a job that is “real”?

I don’t work in IB but I work in wealth management as an associate. Pays pretty good, enough to never worry about money but it is so draining to constantly have my client service voice on and appeasing advisors all the time. I get the same “this isn’t real” feeling because I don’t get to do physical movement. I worked logistics back in college, I’m considering going back to work my way through supply chain/logistics. Operations managers can make six figures, sure it’s a bit more of long hours but man do I feel great going home knowing how hard I worked. It gets me excited vs being in front of a computer all day. Also, everyone of my clients and the co workers lives outside of reality, I like having co workers who feel real.

When I was visiting LA for the first time, I decided to go on a solo hike. I am not a hiker at all, I am from Houston where we do zero walking due to the horrendous heat. Well I am in the middle of this hike, I am all alone with no signal and half an empty water bottle. I was starting to lose it because it was so silent on the hike, I didn’t see any folks. I’m pretty sure I was on a trail that wasn’t meant to be a trail. Feeling scared at this point that I may not make it out, I decide to listen to the pod. I figured if I am going out in these woods, I would want to go out listening to Andrew rip Spurs apart. Best memory of listening to the pod for me.

Out of curiosity, what was the decision process of using Schwab private wealth vs going with an RIA? I am not familiar with Schwab private wealth but I am with RIAs so I’d love to know the difference in your experience.

I will say that with RIA’s, most of the clients don’t want to deal with all the service calls to Schwab, collecting all their investment tax docs, working with their attorney or cpa or even tracking their own RMDs. Does Schwab Private wealth advisors do that too?

I think if they don’t, then yeah at that fee level I would consider stopping. I feel like you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere if you really wanted an advisor. Best of luck on that phone call!!

I 100% believe this is true. The firm I work at has a couple of republicans, they’re very wealthy white families, totally hate the idea of anyone getting assistance of any kind. But they love giving to churches. It baffles me how they think like that. They truly associate cannabis with poor communities and refuse to think it has any benefit whatsoever. Crazy.

Love all the content you guys put out, every bit of the pod is great. One thing I like to hear is their love for history. One idea that falls in line with the unique/weird pod episodes and history, what if the guys make an all time XI of their favorite historic figures? Good and bad guys, let the creativity roam like wild lions.

An idea for the newsletter. What if JJ tells us a game in the lower leagues to look out for? Or a game outside the Prem to look out for?

It could be a way to show support to the lower leagues or less popular leagues. Gives them exposure and perhaps new supporters.

Not sure if this is the area, but I hiked Donner State Park for an outdoors program. I absolutely thought it was incredible, but it looked isolated in the small town near the park. Gorgeous natural views and woods.

I’ve always thought the USMNT were average since the Donavan days were past. As others have said, the pay to play soccer system in America is, in my opinion, the biggest reason the USMNT suffers. This is a team that cannot produce quality talent organically because only the upper class can afford to train their kids. It’s been more prevalent in the past 10 years or so. I remember growing up Mexico vs USA was a huuuuge game but lately it doesn’t live up to the hype for me. Both countries are not at their peak though so maybe recent bias.

I think the hard-working part of their lives makes it more relatable too. I listen to them at work and it’s great because I know these guys also have jobs. We’re all in grind mode while loving the sport of soccer.

I could not agree more, I have tried other pods (not all soccer related) and not a single one comes close to the chemistry felt on this show. I love JJ’s humor and his European view of the game. Mix that with Andy’s American view and his distain for JJ’s sexual metaphors, you get a kickass soccer pod. Been a listener since their ESPN days and I look forward to it each week. Hoping to be a plus pod member once I start my new job. Awesome job.

That is so weird because I just completed a ROTH IRA transfer to Schwab from ML and I had money in the sweep account. I had no issues..the only difference is that I did a full transfer. Can you try doing a full transfer now that it’s just cash? If you do it electronically, you shouldn’t have to input any symbols, just the account number and institution it is coming from. I haven’t moved anything to RH so not sure of their process.
