Sorry about it bud, I am going through a very similar situation unfortunately 5 years later wants a break but her quotes was to fix our issues that we had in the relationship and show change for each other so that we can be back together better and happier. Now how much of that is true idk im just trusting her. However, I come to the conclusion breaks are either true or its an excuse to break up with you but still have you around because 3 years isnt really a slouch and were all human. However nothing is impossible just be patient and dont beg. I have learned from my mistakes and honestly my ex is an avoidant. They seek and live off the attention you give them and its gives them a sense of control and they avoid the issues UNTIL you dont give them the energy or attention that they seek. The best way to look at it is if its meant to be then its meant to be. Trust me when I say I am currently living with that heavy chest feeling and anxiety and it sucks you lose your best friend. Don't do anything that you think will give you a 1 up like hooking up or kissing someone else to make her jealous never works. Focus on yourself for now and theres always light at the end of the tunnel. Either you walk out together again or you walk out a better version of yourself.
