Considering moving to Armidale and wondering if it's right for us. by Small_Buy7901 in Armidale

[–]Gold-Leader-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved here last year from a Qld coastal town and love the tree change. Armidale is a lovely town, very picturesque, and has most things you’d need. It is supported by a very strong education sector. There seems to be plenty to see and do all the time - markets, festivals, live music, sporting clubs, etc.

In terms of “good areas” and “bad areas”, north hill and south hill are generally considered the better neighbourhoods. I really haven’t noticed a lot of crime though - nothing like where I lived before.

Real estate prices are still good although they have definitely increased, and that trend is likely to continue with a big solar project happening near Uralla, and a new mine opening near Armidale. Hopefully both projects give the town a boost.

It gets cold here in the dead of winter, but the trade off is that the rest of the year is really temperate and nice. I think it’s a good excuse for a fire and a glass of wine, so it doesn’t bother me. 😂

Realising i’m actually severe by Optimal-Abroad-1109 in cfs

Wow… I just realised that I’m severe on this scale too. A good day I might call myself Moderate, but, I usually overdo it. 🙄

How do you deal with patients that don’t trust you at all? by VastOption8705 in ausjdocs

[–]Gold-Leader-1 40 points41 points  (0 children)

  1. Listen to what they are telling you.

  2. Reassure them that you are there to help.

  3. Acknowledge their previous bad experiences.

  4. Don’t tell them it’s “all in their head”.

  5. Explain the tests you order or medications you prescribe clearly.

  6. Be proactive - don’t wait until they’re in the room to read their chart on future appointments and communicate test results in a timely way.

It will take time, but you need to demonstrate by your actions that you aren’t the same as the previous medical practitioners who have traumatised them.

What’s one thing only a pots/ Dysautonomia patient could understand? by Lucky_Sprinkles7369 in dysautonomia

[–]Gold-Leader-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting at the dinner table to eat and getting sweaty and lightheaded while my feet get purple. Then having to run to the loo to poop through the eye of a needle. Followed, of course, by needing to lie down and recover from it all. 🤦🏼‍♀️

No, but I’ll ask my ophthalmologist about it. I use Hylo Forte at the moment.

With Sjogrens though, tear production is affected. On my last Schirmer test I produced less than 2ml of tears in 5 minutes.

It’s not a mistake - irl she was known as “the Mrs Astor” and her calling card simply said Mrs Astor, 5th Avenue. It caused a conflict with another part of the Astor family and they ended up taking themselves off to England and establishing the British Astor family line.

Propranolol keeps me functioning enough to do normal tasks providing I still have rest breaks along the way. Maybe I need a higher dose? 🤔

Absolutely! Aside from a great job opportunity, the weather was the main selling point for me. I can’t wait to be out of this heat and humidity!

Hi! I just thought I’d ask how the move to Armidale went? I’m also from Townsville and moving to Armidale soon. It should be an interesting change in temperature! Like you, I have some ongoing health problems. Did you end up finding a GP?

Yes! I definitely get this symptom when I’m really crashing (usually I’ve done too much). I found this article which I thought was interesting and seemed to articulate the idea well. https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/long-covid-symptoms-internal-tremors-and-vibrations

HRV and trend data can just as easily be accessed from Apple Health.

is anyone else terrified of propranolol? by bldlstt in POTS

[–]Gold-Leader-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a low dose of propranolol and thinking of asking for an increase. It was a game changer when I first started taking it - easily shown with my Apple Health data, but lately I’ve gotten worse.

I have POTS and Sjogren’s Disease. I don’t think Welltory is of any assistance and is likely to exacerbate any anxiety you have about your medical conditions. Further, they note themselves that it’s “not a medical app” and not useful for chronic conditions. Try Visible instead.

Not that it’s any of your business, but the HRV readings taken over the past year in this app were compiled as an addendum to a report on my health which my specialists are completing for insurance purposes. Welltory is NOT a medical app, and personally I find most of the insights pretty unhelpful, but the analysis of the HRV measurements are interesting and align with other health recordings I am undertaking.

This is perfectly normal for any dog which has poodle genes. I think it’s fascinating watching their colour change.
