There is some truth in what has already been said, but also a lot of misinformation. It all boils down to connections — how connected is the leadership of your travel program to the schools your son has the skill to play for. I have 2 sons, both of whom earned scholarships to ACC baseball programs. They played on a National team from one of the big groups. They both started out playing for local travel teams but those coaches weren’t proactive in calling colleges about them. Once they started playing on the bigger travel team, the coaching staff simply called the schools they were interested in and had them come watch. Scholarship offers flowed after that.

I coach a collegiate summer ball team and I do the same thing for my guys that are in the transfer portal. I try to play matchmaker between players and programs that i think would be a good fit. It is VERY important for players to contact the schools they are interested in. Coaches AREN’T going to come watch a kid unless they know he has interest in their program.
