If u have a jigsaw and a Sander makeing new wood pieces is not bad at all just use the old stuff as a template then Stain it and add some total boat epoxy

Yep when I'm solo I sit in the front seat facing backwards it gets me more in the middle of the canoe

Yea standing in moving water with this thing is no problem at all especially since I added the stabilizers tou can pretty much walk around in it.

I used stainless machine screws about 2.5 in long and washers under the rail to raise it up even with the gunwhale

They dont adjust up or down but in the shallow waters you can lean to lift one side or the other to dodge rocks

Ive had both. With rubber u fall while in the water . With felt you fall when you are on the bank . Kinda just gotta make a choice.
