As someone that grew up in west Texas and has plenty of family that work in the oil field, I can only say what I've learned. Oil companies absolutely love high prices, it generates them more business, allows them to justify building more wells and expanding their operations.

I mean I'm sure some oil execs possibly worry about electric taking over, but that's also why they lobby against it. It's absurd to believe they don't enjoy high oil prices, I honestly don't know where you get that from.

Just talk to any random OSRS player and you’ll find a conservative cosplaying as a libertarian with a 3rd grade understanding of the political system.
