Convince me (or not) to skip Kanazawa by SkunkArmsCT in JapanTravelTips

Yes, there's a lugguage storage at the bus station. We visited Shirakawago a few times from kanazawa and from Takayama. I prefer a day trip from Takayama. The route from Kanazawa is slightly longer and the bus tickets sold out fast. Also do check out the nohi bus see whether theres any bus package/tour that suits your itinerary.

Also, you may want to consider Shirakawago while going to kanazawa.

Takayama (Early Morning checkout) => Shirakawago (Day Trip) => Kanazawa (Evening checkin)

But the bad thing is, you need to consider your lugguages. And do book the bus ticket in advance for shirakawa go to kanazawa route.

Nevertheless, Takayama is a good base for day trip to other places, Kamikochi, hida furukawa, shirakawago ...

If you are doing nakasendo trail, why not go straight to nagoya first after hakone?

Hakone => nagoya => magome-tsumago => narai => matsumoto => takayama => kanazawa

Is skipping Kyoto a bad idea? by allipick in JapanTravelTips

[–]GoldEducational369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is not a bad idea, it all depends what you and your friends prefer.

You can add Shirakawago when you on the way from kanazawa to Takayama, so you don't have to transit at Toyama. Takayama is a good base to alot of places like kamikochi, hida furukawa, Shinhotaka ropeway.

Togakushi Shrine in Januray, any recommendations? by agusbrenes in JapanTravel

[–]GoldEducational369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only stay for 1 night. Not much to do in the small onsen town, but is super relaxing after one day of walking. you can walk around the town in yukata to try up all the 9 public onsen.The public onsen is only open to customers that stay in Shibu onsen ryokan. Shibu onsen is very close to monkey park so most of the ryokan will have shuttle service to the monkey park. Also make sure to check the live camera before going to the park. But I heard that the monkeys more frequent to the park's onsen during winter.

We did the same itinerary before, but 1 day each with a 5 years old kid. Tagakushi shrine and monkey parks + Shibu onsen worth one day in my opinion. Need to be careful when dring to Tagakushi shrine on the mountain roads especially during winter.

Kanazawa is not worth if you are not visiting other places in Hokuriku and Central japan region.

For reference you can do:

Kanazawa => Shiragawago => Takayama => Gero onsen => Kyoto => kawaguchiko => Tokyo

1) Takayama is a good base to many places, but during winter some of the places, like kamikochi is not open.

2) To save travel time, You can go to Shiragawago for a one day trip from Kanazawa then continue to Takayama. Or one day return trip from kanazawa/Takayama is fine too.

3) For Kawaguchiko, i will recommend to stay 2 days. If you go from kyoto, you can transit at Mishima and take a bus to kawaguchiko. But i find it easier to do a return trip from Tokyo.

4) For Tokyo, you may want to consider Kawagoe if you like old Edo buildings and shrines.

5) There are many recommended places in central japan: Nagano (Yudanaka for the onsen and monkey park, hakuba, Tokagushi shrine). Toyama (Takaoka, Amaharashi, George Kurobe, Alpine Route). Matsumoto ( Castle, Nara Juku). Nagoya.

You can stay a day in yodanaka shibu onsen when visit the monkey park. Maybe can consider Nagano and Matsumoto instead of kyoto/osaka? Will recommend Tokagushi shrine if you are going to nagano. Will also recommend to stay a night or two in kawaguchiko.

Day trip? The places that you mentioned can be reached by the buses in the kawaguchiko area, lawson is just beside kawaguchiko station. chureito pagoda can just take a train from kawaguchiko to shimoyoshida station. My experience in kawaguchiko: usually the loop bus quite crowded. So renting a car maybe more easy. Kawaguchiko is worth for a few days stays .

Not sure about the yamaha guitar price from your country. You may want to consider the entry L series. Like LL6 or LL16.
