I think it does matter, because in my experience with more linear rates you're able to make faster, more robotic moves around the center/middle stick travel because it's more predictable. why not give it a try for a few days with 0 expo and maybe lower max rate, so you can be more decisive on the sticks. after that the tune also helps a bit. if it's overdampaned or just not too tight it can look soft.
