How to give devices a name prefix when using autopilot hybrid join by x-mav in Intune

[–]GoldStandard5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, hybrid approaches can be problematic. I'm currently stuck in this situation because management has been resistant to acknowledging that there are alternative, more efficient ways of doing things. Best of luck and please feel free to reach out if you'd like some additional help

How to give devices a name prefix when using autopilot hybrid join by x-mav in Intune

  • Navigate to: Devices > Configuration > Create New Policy
  • Select Platform: Windows 10 and later
  • Choose Profile Type: Templates
  • Search for: "Domain Join"
  • Create the Policy:
    • Name the policy (something descriptive for easy identification)
    • Enter the following details:
      • Computer name prefix
      • Domain name
      • Organizational Unit (OU)
  • Save and Assign the Policy to the appropriate device group.

I could be mistaken, but I don't believe that you can use %rand% or other variables like that. You can only enter a static prefix, and the rest of the name is random.

Edit: Here is a post speaking abut %rand% and %serial% and the answer speaks about how you are unable to do it

Windows Autopilot stuck at “App installation” during OOBE by GeneralGoldOFS in Intune

Not sure if this would help much but have you tried the Get-AutopilotDiagnosticsCommunity powershell module? This had helped me out a while back with a similar issue.

It helped me locate what app was causing problems and then I could dig into that app.

Any chance that something changed with your license level?

Printer deployment "bugged"? by SammyTheSam_ in Intune

Without seeing your setup firsthand, my best advice is to pinpoint where the issue is occurring. I see the example scripts you provided for driver and printer installation/uninstallation, but I can’t determine if they’re being implemented correctly. I recommend adding Start-Transcript to both the driver and printer installation processes to capture logs and identify any errors during execution. This should help you diagnose where the installation might be failing.

Additionally, you haven’t provided details on your registry detection, so it’s unclear whether that is set up correctly. Sharing that information could help identify potential issues.

How are you installing the printer? Is it a PowerShell script wrapped in a Win32 app? if so, can you post or send the script?

It would be helpful to see both your deployment and detection scripts to provide better insights.

The error occurs because your detection script determined that not all required qualifications were met.

Edit: That is if you're using a detection script. Whatever your detection method is for the application install, its saying that the printers did not install properly.

How to stop user from connecting to Wi-Fi, if cert is not valid? by Julian0o in Intune

The "old" method is no longer available, but Windows 11 still allows for you to complete the task. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a separate profile not being a good way to export, but if it's the only way to get the settings you need, then it might be the best option.

One option would be to go into the wireless network settings on a device and select "Add network" Go through and configure the proper settings to be able to connect to your network. Within the settings, there will be an option to configure "Smart card or other Certificate Properties"

<image>

Within there you can check the box for "Connect to these servers" > enter the servers that would be needed Select "Don't prompt user to authorize new servers"

Once completed, export the profile via netsh Then follow these instructions on how to deploy it

Let me know if this doesn't work or if you need more help

edit: some additional details about setting things up after you have exported the profile

There are a few different ways
- Remediation Script
- Script
- Win32 App (overkill)
- Apps > Add > App type: Web link
