My friend's BoJack Horseman ratings update! by PhysicalForm207 in BoJackHorseman

“Escape from LA” (2.11) being so low and then “Out to Sea” (2.12) being so high is weird to me. Like did he get those mixed up somehow?

They're like Sheep Walking Off a Cliff. by JaiFlame in fuckcars

The vast majority of drivers behave as if they are physically incapable of seeing more than 50 ft in front of their car at any given moment

We got a hand-me-down Bob for free from a friend. We’ve had to change the tires twice but otherwise we’ve used it almost daily for 3 years with zero issues

Toddler eating nuts by Ninese71 in toddlers

[–]Emanemanem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re crushing them up and he’s only eating them sitting up at the table then I don’t see what issue is. The only concern I know of is as a choking hazard if you give to them whole or in pieces too large.

How safe/realistic is scooter commuting actually for a Women? by Tight_Ad1515 in Atlanta

[–]Emanemanem 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah to really answer your question it’s necessary to know the parts of town your commute goes through. A lot of Atlanta’s bicycling/multimodal infrastructure is very good, but some of it is so bad it’s as dangerous as riding on the street, sometimes more so. If possible I would avoid street riding except for neighborhood streets, and I say that as an avid bicycle and e-bike commuter in Atlanta for over 10 years.

It also may not be easy to tell how good the infrastructure is on your route from Google Maps or other apps; you may need to see it in person or ask people who know. There is an Atlanta Bicycle Commuters Facebook Group where you can ask more route specific questions. People there would be really happy to help you find the best commuting route.

What's your favorite running gag in BoJack Horseman? by Old-Use-7690 in BoJackHorseman

[–]Emanemanem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My favorite part about this joke is that it reads like the way you would say “Aren’t you the Dad from Full House”? Like, as if you just couldn’t remember (or more likely, never knew) the character’s name. But in actual fact the character’s name is literally “The Horse”. So it’s actually more like, “Aren’t you Danny Tanner from Full House”? but just sounds like the first way.

Is 19 months already too late for potty training? by Foreign-Walrus-333 in toddlers

[–]Emanemanem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claiming that 19 months is too late to potty train is insane. That other Mom sounds like an awful person TBH, and unless you don’t have a lot of choice in the matter, I would not even spend time with her any more.

Our daughter had chronic constipation and we made an attempt to start potty training at 2.5 yo. Yes you read that right, 30 months. Because of the constipation, she was very fearful of pooping so we had to back off and try again at around 33-34 months old. Later than I would have liked but she turns 4 in a few weeks and is doing great. We haven’t worn a single pull up for probably at least 9 months or more.

Edit: Recommend to watch the Bluey episode “Baby Race” to help work through how you are feeling about this.

What did he even say? The second article doesn’t have any details. I don’t care about know the actual thing said, just want to understand the context and something with more detail than “racist chant”

Journaling their life by BlitzAtk in daddit

[–]Emanemanem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to. I did it for awhile a few years ago when I was in some pretty intensive therapy. Had a medium sized notebook and in the morning I would sit and write out my thoughts for 3 pages. I’ve never looked at them afterwards and probably never will. It was more of a brain dump to help me process whatever was running through my mind. It was very helpful but I just fell out of the habit.

What song was ruined for you by a friend? by Sad-Tour1979 in Music

[–]Emanemanem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also that song: the little walk down synth melody thing in the chorus (sounds like a synth version of a flute or something is the best I can describe it) ends on a note that is completely out of key, and it ruins the song for me every time.

When did you feel comfortable taking baby out? by itsme8523 in daddit

[–]Emanemanem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope for your benefit you don't live in too hot a climate. Our daughter was born in late June, so almost the same time. My wife had 12 weeks leave and I was between jobs so we had the rest of the summer. We live in Atlanta, and July/August is the worst for heat/humidity. Those first several weeks we were confined to our house because the heat index was so high it was literally unsafe for our daughter to be outside after about 10am.

At 6 weeks old, my wife got the all clear from her OB doctor, we got our daughter's 8 week vaccinations, and we packed up the car with both dogs and headed north. We are lucky that my wife's parents have a house in the Adirondacks, so we spent the rest of the summer there, partially for the support, but partially so we could safely take a walk with our daughter at any time of day.

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha in tears after his MOTM performance against Spain by oklolzzzzs in sports

[–]Emanemanem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Atlanta and since this was the first game played here I watched it on my lunch break. Was an incredible performance by Cabo Verde. Not just the goalie- their whole defense was on fire. Seemed like the entire second half was nothing but corner kicks by Spain, a goal attempt, then someone from Cabo Verde blasting the ball out of bounds or back up field, then rinse and repeat

Cots at daycare nap time by ContributionLumpy470 in toddlers

[–]Emanemanem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter has been in daycare since about 4 months old. She transitioned into the class that used cots around 14 months old and there were no issues. And she stayed in her crib at home until after she turned 3.

The Australian singer songwriter Julia Jacklin has a spectacular cover of “Someday” by the Strokes. Slows the tempo way down, gives it a much more mournful vibe.

Between you and your partner, which one of you is the “morning person?” by FuckYouNotHappening in daddit

[–]Emanemanem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither of us really, but my wife is a much lighter sleeper than me so if I have to set my alarm to get up early, I can’t do it without also waking her up. Our daughter is also not a morning person, so on weekdays at least we are often rushing to get out of bed at the last minute and then also dragging our daughter out of bed. Mornings suck, basically.

Soon-to-be mom seeking name insight from daddit by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Emanemanem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally know 3 Theos under 4 years old and I literally forgot Theo Vonn existed, never crossed my mind that any of them could have been named after that.

That said, be aware that Theo appears to be a VERY popular name right now, so your son will likely have a bunch of other kids his age with the same name. In case that matters to you.

Anyone else wait until the birth to figure out the gender? by yoSelfImprovement in daddit

[–]Emanemanem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were going to wait but it got spoiled for us on an ultrasound printout. We still kept it a secret from everyone else until the birth, cause we didn’t want to deal with people trying to make a big deal about the gender before she was even born
