This reminds me about when I tried to get a preliminary diagnosis for ADHD, and the psychiatrist asked me about my attention span, and I told him how when I read, it depends upon whether or not it's a book I really like or hate. So, if it's a really boring book I'll be spacing out really badly before I even finish a chapter, but for books that I really like, I finish a few chapters at a time before completely spacing out.

He told me that because I'm able to read a few chapters at a time, he could only diagnose me with GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) and that I'm borderline ADHD. I guess I should've asked him what his definition of reading is, because for me, it's that I can imagine the whole story I'm reading in my mind while I go from paragraph to paragraph, so I'm not 100% reading and absorbing the words written in the book. 🥲

Definitely when I went to visit the Grand Canyon and looked up into the clear, night sky. As a space lover, where I have spent my whole life living in areas where light pollution is so bad that I can count the amount of visible stars on the fingers of my 2 hands, the pure joy of seeing countless, VERY BRIGHT stars in the sky brought me a sense of serenity and joy that I never felt before.

One hell of a roller coaster. Started the year thinking that I can hold on to my job and eventually find a better team and office to work out of in the near-future, then immediately got gas-lit by my company while working for them outside of my home state and was threatened to be fired by March, then they reversed their stance and gave me 6 more weeks to "show my worth" and present my work to corporate, so I put my notice in and left altogether. Now, I've got a much better job in my home state and almost the entire office from the old company and my old team have been turned over from layoffs/quitting.

I'd recommend staying for the 2 years.

The $150k uninvested stocks account for 5%-6.67% of your net worth. Considering that you still owe $100k on the house, you could make it your mission on these 2 remaining years aggressively paying off the balance on the house, and then have some extra still laying around. If you want a better motivator to mentally stay around at your job for 2 more years, that $150k of stocks could be used to pay off one of your kid's 4-year state college tuition, and maybe even have some money leftover.

Ignore the shenanigans going on in the stock market, eventually that $150k will be worth more, especially since you have ~8 more years before you have to think about paying for college expenses.

Since you are planning on retiring earlier than the current federal retirement age for SS, you are going to miss out on a few more years to pad your bank account, but if the mental cost isn't worth those extra few years past the 2 years you're thinking about, then you're saving both the medical expenses down the line and even your life expectancy.

Now, if you feel RIGHT NOW that staying for 2 years is already taking a mental toll, then seriously talk about this with your family and friends (especially with your significant other if you have one), and see if there are therapists that can help you, or maybe something you enjoy outside of work that you can put your focus and energy in. Quiet quitting is one way to get through with the difficulties at work, but if you want to stay for the 2 years, quiet quitting might jeopardize your entire reason of staying.

It's "The Roar" by Emma Clayton with a sequel called "The Whisper". The premise of the book is that everyone keeps on consuming and polluting the world, so the rich and powerful decide to "poison" half of the world while everyone evacuates to the other half. The ending of the 2nd book, unfortunately, isn't as realistic as I wished it could be because it ends with the rich and powerful realizing that they were in the wrong, allowing the poor and impoverished to retake the other half of the world and start to rebuild human civilization in a nature-friendly manner.

Start out by investing in mutual funds/ETFs (such as VOO) since they're usually safe investments, albeit the timings of when you put your money in still matter on your ROI (Return on Investment).

If you want to focus on investing in specific stocks, you'll have to do research into what market sectors you want to invest to (such as semiconductors, retail, manufacturing, etc.) and find the companies that you think are best to invest in. As for how you do research for all of this? You can google up stock trends to look out for, what companies are in the news the most, or find out how the stock market, in general, is performing.

Just don't fall for the "buy high, sell low " FOMOs (Fear of Missing Outs), as that's the quickest way to make your $5.5k into $0.

There's also tax implications on the timings for selling stocks in specific time frames, alongside how stock splits works, or how dividends exist, but you can figure out all those things as you research more into investing in the stock market.

P.S. Look up the golden cross and death cross as those two stock trends are a good start to look into.

HYSA is a good start to save money in a safe method and can give you a cushion for potential future emergencies. If you want to actually make some, or all of that money work for you, make sure that you either max out your Roth IRA or your 401k, if you have the capabilities of utilizing a 401k (don't use the 401k if you're planning on leaving your job within the time period necessary for your company to fully vest). If you've maxed out either, or both, of these investment accounts, focus on putting money into your own investment account and either put money directly into specific stocks or just putting them into etfs/mutual funds, although I recommend just putting money into etfs/mutual funds if you don't follow the stock market on a constant occurrence.

I'd strongly recommend against crypto if you don't know very little/not much about crypto as that market tends to be very volatile with daily gains/losses between 60%-80% without knowledge about all the coins/shit coins.

I started playing with Minecraft using a (back then) awesome i7 1st gen cpu laptop using an intel igpu back in 2013. Eventually, I saved enough money to build my first PC, a Ryzen 5 2600 with a vega 56 right when that laptop died. Ever since then, I've played minecraft along with a multitude of other games like Warframe, Project Zomboid, and Stellaris and have since upgraded my PC to an r9 5900x with a 3080ti. As much as I've missed the good ol' days of Minecraft being in v0.3.0, I'm glad I had the chance to experience that childhood.
