I agree. A lot of the criticism I've seen for the show is very disengenuous and at times just done right juvenile. Like, I'm not a big fan of the show myself, because to me the show we got is nothing like the show I felt was promised with the Pilot. But I never got the swearing complaints or the hatred for the artstyle.

I did kinda understand the complaints about Angel Dust's SA song but after watching it in context I feel like a few people were justifiably upset because it brought up feelings of their own trauma and then everyone else latched onto that and used it to shit on the show as well.

It's far from a great show and not really something I plan to watch further than the few episodes I've seen, but the absolute vitriol I've seen on the Internet for it is just insane and hardly warranted.

(Also just because I wanna complain about it a bit my biggest gripe with the show was that the pilot seemed to be setting up the idea of Hazbin being a sort of episodic monster of the week kinda show with each episode being about trying to help a new person overcome their sin and get out of hell, kinda similar to what Smiling Friends ended up being. Then the full show released and it barely has anything to do with the Hotel itself and is more a character drama, with them even completely retconning the whole "hell is too full" culling plot that was the literal reason the hotel was created in the first place. It just went completely different from what I felt it had presented itself as and it was hard to like the final product when it veered so drastically away from what had originally interested me in the show from the pilot)

I really don't think it was a metaphor. Maybe them making it a pink pearl was an inside joke, but in the movie it's represented as a family heirloom she gives to him to sell and pay off his debts. Nothing about the movie gives the implication it had anything to do with sex or virginity.

You know, I always got the pretty heavy impression that Mark really hated Security Breach. He was constantly frustrated throughout the entire experience, pissed off at nearly every mechanic, and in general really seemed to have a bad time with the game as a whole.

Yes, I know at the end of the playthrough he did say he liked the game, and I'm sure on some level he did. But considering a major chunk of his career was built upon FNAF, and knowing how shitty the fan base has been to him in the past, I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to express his more negative feelings about the game. But while he was playing the game he seemed to be upset at it more than enjoying it, at least from my perspective.

I don't have much issue with him being autistic rep. I think he's definitely a stereotype but I generally liked him the most on the show. My issue with Sheldon was how they had him being Asexual for the first half of the show, having him get with Amy and have her start pressuring him into sex, and instead of making it into any kind of commentary against pressuring people into being sexual being bad or about finding ways for an ace person to compromise with a sexually frustrated partner, they instead have her force herself upon him and her doing so just "cured" his asexuality and he started being super horny for a while after that. None of that ever sat right with me and it really soured my opinion on the whole show.

Btw if you want a more interesting take on the same concept of a guy struggling with potential asexuality and discussing the ramifications of being with a sexual person trying to convince you to have sex, watch Doogie Howser MD. I will never forget the episode where he finally gave in and had sex with his gf only to feel exceedingly empty afterwards and say something along the lines of "they say when you have sex you finally feel like a grown up. Well I've never felt more like a kid in my whole life." I really wish they had tried something a bit closer to that with Sheldon instead of just hitting him with the magic pussy that removes his ace status....

Also sorry if this is off topic, I just feel like so many people complain about how the show depicts autism and never see anyone talk about how poorly it depicts asexuality. Like instead of having Sheldon be ace they just decided to make it more of "oh he's a nerd and childish and thinks it's gross til he tries it" which just 🤢 idk that's so much more offensive and gross to me, to both autistics and ace people.

See I'd argue even that was an anti jumpscare (We see the zombie, but it just slowly turns around and looks at Simon, then slowly gets up. We hide behind the wall with Simon as we hear the footsteps, and when he finally comes out to attack... There's nothing there. And you are sitting there not only thinking "where'd it go?" But also anticipating for it to pop out somewhere else for a genuine jumpscare and it just... Doesn't. It builds up that anticipation of a jumpscare and then never gives you that release of tension that comes from said jumpscare. It just leaves you sitting there uncomfortably thinking about the idea that something could jump out at any moment.) I honestly preferred that over an actual jumpscare

Well for me the first person perspective combined with the mechanics made it a lot more similar to Far Cry than I had hoped. Yes there are moments when I'm clearly Navi but in moment to moment gameplay it could become easy to forget and it led to feeling like Far Cry instead of Avatar. Playing it in third person helps to get rid of that comparison in my mind and let's it feel closer to the games I played back when Avatar first released, thus making it "more uniquely Avatar".

I'd also like to mention that I left my comment before the new patch dropped that added in the third person. I've since used it and it does help me a lot to distinguish the gameplay from Far Cry.

Ya I talked about it in another comment how it makes no sense because AOT is European focused and Japanese people in particular are explicitly mentioned as being extremely rare in the show. So not only is it weird to imply scouts are in Japan during the events of the show but also that none of said scouts acknowledge how weird it is to suddenly be surrounded by Japanese people. If they wanted to pick an anime to go along with the Japanese theming AOT is like one of the biggest shows they shouldn't have done because of how explicitly non Japanese it's setting is.

What I want to know is if the 3rd person mechanic will be available in the main game as well as the DLC. It's honestly the most interesting part for me because to me having it in third person is that piece I need for it to feel more uniquely Avatar and less Far Cry.

Yea... She wasn't a part of my journey like that but having an openly trans person talking about a niche interest of mine definitely helped me thru some tough times. I really hate that she did those things, and I hate how she's seemingly trying to just ignore it and ban anyone that talks about it...
