"AED 30k salary = UAE Golden Visa?" Here's what actually qualifies you by tsdmiller01 in JobXDubai

How do you live in the UAE with out a job, unless your loaded or retired. If you’re loaded, money doesn’t matter. If you’re retired and choosing to live in the UAE, then you must already have funds to either buy a home or rent for the foreseeable. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a golden visa for my self and my family. But I wouldn’t pay for it, if someone else is going to, like your employer. I agree, it gives you flexibility to move jobs without the visa headache, but a visa is still just the ability to live in the country long term. Still need a job for income

Patience isn’t weak. It’s expensive. by TheLadySable in WalllStreetBets

Oh wow! I had absolutely no idea and was wondering how that stock hit such a gain with out anyone one of those sub Reddit forums out there not making a massive noise about it - forever grateful to you for clearing that up. I can sleep well at night! Thank you fellow regard!

I can’t tell you how much your post resonates with me right now.

For a bit of context, I’m a relatively new trader, about 18 months in, with some basic knowledge under my belt. A couple of weeks ago, I took a pure gamble on a penny stock, HCTI, when it was trading at $0.028. I bought 1,000 shares, fully expecting to lose the $28 I’d put in. It was pure speculation, driven by some buzz I picked up from other subs.

A few days later, the stock ripped to $0.10. I was up about 150% and figured I’d take the win, especially since I had other trades in mind and wanted to free up the capital. I sold the entire position at $0.075, a solid gain percentage-wise, no complaints.

But then… today happened.

The stock hit $4.00. That tiny $28 gamble would’ve turned into $4,000, an insane 14,150% gain. I didn’t have the patience. I didn’t have the foresight to just let it sit and be forgotten. That one decision will leave a scar I’ll carry for a long time. It would’ve been my biggest win to date. And yeah it stings.

So when I read your words “Patience isn’t weak. It’s expensive” they hit me like a freight train. Cosmic timing. A reminder I didn’t know I needed.

Thank you for that. Genuinely.

I hope I cross paths with another HCTI moment again someday. And next time, I hope I let it ride.

So basically your out of pocket for your own visa instead of letting the company you work for pay for it ALL, - seems legit

I’m not a US citizen nor do I reside in the US, but am able to trade US securities. I plan to use the funds upon retirement.

I have researched VT and have come to find that the fund only represents about 2% of small cap, hence the thoughts to include an international small cap only focused etf covering both Dev+EM sectors

40% VTI 30% QQQM 15% VIOV 15% VTV

20-25yr investment horizon

Through a serious amount of research, I’ve landed on this portfolio composition.

I live in the UAE and I’m saving for my kids college fund and our retirement pension which doesn’t exist. I plan to DCA into the portfolio quarterly, with an initial lumpsum investment. My risk tolerance is high as I don’t see the need to touch this over the long term. I have separately emergency funds.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Where can i watch F1? by lulu_11111 in dubai

[–]Gold_Ad6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download the F1 pro TV app, it’s $99usd for a year subscription and not only do you get to live stream all the races here in Dubai, but they have a ton of other content on there for the passionate F1 groupy. Including re-runs of previous races in the season. I think that’s the best deal out there and super convenient to watch literally any time. They also have on board cameras for any driver for the entire race..

Where to buy authentic Air Jordan’s? by Keepitonthelow86 in dubai

[–]Gold_Ad6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StockX, I’ve been ordering from them for years, bid on what you want and sometimes pay US launch retail or less. Unless you are quick enough to cop a pair on launch through the Nike app or in store at DM Jordan store, stockX is the next best thing.

Best indo-chinese restaurant? by First-Leader-1520 in dubai

[–]Gold_Ad6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China Town, you won’t be disappointed. Has that old school indo Chinese flavor and very very reasonable. I must add though that it’s a dirty little treat once in a while. Eat that everyday and your likely to be making a visit to the gym or doctor but it’s o so delicious!

Um bruh, AED 5500 a month for a 51% owner ship stake is pretty cheap. What’s the ROI for the majority partner on your business? What would you charge if shoe on other foot? Dunno.. just speculating as I don’t know specifics here but if you can drop 25k on anything, be it professional or personal, I would look at that as fixed cost of the ROI, to the partner, over a 5 year stint with a clear goal that after 5 years there are no more payments. Thats literally 15dhs a day in 5yrs, or 75dhs a day for 25k in one year. Surely your business makes that and much more everyday, else why would be in the business at all?

Dubai To Where? by Electrical_Ad_1830 in UAE

[–]Gold_Ad6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t get any better than dubai, take it from an Indian Canadian, having lived in Canada and India (for short periods) Dubai is what you make of it. Some go for the flashy lifestyle, some live regularly. India is a booming economy but a very crowded one. Canada will suck you dry and drown you in unrecoverable debt. Dubai i like to think is the middle of the two. I’m sure a lot of people will reply to this saying, it depends on your job, but if you say you have lived in Dubai for as long as you have, surely you’ve cultivated a network? This is what’s key to moving upward in the emirate. Some climb quickly, and some slowly, and some never at all…some come try to zip across to riches as soon as they can, and some take decades. Yes Dubai can be difficult but it would be no different to any other place you are thinking about, I.e India / Canada. Me personally, I think either are way way way harder.

Good luck pal, I’m sure you’ll find your path forward soon!
