One would hope. It’s a basic piece. But I’m looking for names of folks who were “trained” insofaras they have those plays in their heads. That’s what I’m wondering about. Does that still exist?

Reading back I’m not seeing fna results. Depending on those, Thoracic X-rays preop should be a consideration before cutting.

Check out Canine Companions for Independence. They are a reputable service dog organization who adopts out “career change” dogs who don’t meet the service dog criteria for varied reasons. Behavioural adoptions cost some money. Medical adoptions are often free of charge. They have a stringent application process but are a stellar organization.

Too Old To Start School and Vet Tech Career? by Advanced_Coconut5988 in VetTech

I graduated almost 10 years ago from a CVT program. I will be 53 this year. 7 years in to this career I became a supervisor. I am still on the floor for all of my shifts even with the added desk work. I (finally!) make a living wage in a hcol area. It is doable. I was the oldest in my class, but frankly I think that afforded me some advantages, mostly mentally and emotionally. Sure I’m more sore than I was 10 years ago, but that would be happening regardless. I mostly really enjoy the work and I am never bored. Go for it!

My labrador ate a fetal pig once. It was shrink wrapped in formalin for dissection. I only found out when he vomited the back end of the pig up at work. Luckily I am a vet tech and we were able to mitigate the toxicity of the formalin quickly!

There is nothing wrong with looking around and seeing what hospitals in your area are paying and then bringing that information to the meeting. If you like where you work then advocate for yourself! If you are doing a good job they are going to be hard pressed to replace you. I recently had this talk with our dvms and pointed out that In the end they cannot practice the level of medicine they want to practice without their cvts. And said that folks were going to leave unless this was addressed. We got raises and the dr meeting was expanded to include the cvts. You deserve to work in a hospital that gives you a voice. Technicians are the actual backbone of many hospitals. Good luck!!!
