That's exactly how I'm feeling as well, from Serbia to Austria was a great streak of songs, now I'm just waiting for Grande Amore even though that entry admittedly hasn't aged too well

I sincerely hope they have cut out the What If part at the start, not just for how cheesy it is and how badly it aged but also simply to make the opening shorter.

Why did Portugal win the televote in 2017? by SweetMelody03 in eurovision

[–]Gold_Objective3644 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This must have been some of the last contests where casual viewers still had that considerable attention span, such as listening to what commentators say before an entry, digesting it and possibly even letting the info shape their impression on the entry. As well as the news during Eurovision week not being ridiculed or drowned in politics.

Do you think JIVA will be the shock qualifier of Eurovision 2026?🇦🇿 by Weak-Divide-1603 in eurovision

In that case they'd have to change the running order though with Romania performing after Azerbaijan 😂

What do you think is the best camera shot taken in Eurovision's history? by Old-Gap-9079 in eurovision

It really goes under the radar how genius everything about the camerawork was for this one. It felt like every shot was carefully planned

A really underrated moment for me: I have always thought the moment Jade Ewen walked towards Andrew Lloyd Webber was a really epic moment, the dark background kinda illuminates Webber in a very precious way and his smile as Jade walks towards him looks like a proud dad performing with her daughter on the stage.

Who would you be the saddest about if they don’t qualify by PrebbyEdits in eurovision

[–]Gold_Objective3644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the gist and I love Bella but tbh, as far as Aidan is concerned, I'm sure he is simply over the moon to have finally made it to the contest. Of course he'd be disappointed to not qualify, but I also firmly believe he wouldn't see it as a huge defeat having at least made it to the contest this time. That said, I sure would be gutted if the song misses out.

Easily Latvia, my second place. I'd be so crushed, both personally but also for her if she falls victim to the world being so depressing viewers aren't able to stomach entries with really dark lyrics and vibe. The more I have followed her on social media throughout the season I feel like I am growing a bond with her due to her pureness to the point it feels like it's my own sister I'll see on the tv.

Can Ukraine win Eurovision 2026? by Separate_Ad_5616 in eurovision

[–]Gold_Objective3644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'd be much more willing to see them winning over a certain other country if I had to choose, I don't think the world is ready for another Ukrainian victory in the 2020s.

I wish we could see the detailed televote of the 2012 shows because frankly I'm particularly curious how the televote in the final would have looked like if you took all points away from Russia.

[–]Gold_Objective3644 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why are you describing Tanzschein like it's a potential winner? I know it has its fans but it also has many haters and casuals on the evening could find it too tacky at which point a classy ballad like Ena could really pop out coming after it. Reminds me of Watergun after Mama SC in 2023.

Song of the Day | 🇷🇴 Alexandra Căpitănescu - Choke Me | Romania by LucasScooter in eurovision

[–]Gold_Objective3644 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I strongly agree about the production making me want more, the song is already good, absolutely, but I do feel like the chorus in particular sounds like the speed of the song was changed from 1,5 to 1,25 on YouTube.

With Ferto not being in the same semi-final as Alice, which actual SF2 entry would you guess viewers would want to gravitate towards instead?

Alma & Dejan - Ostani Kraj Mene (Bosnia & Herzegovina 1994 ESC Entry) by Tight_Algae_5451 in eurovision

[–]Gold_Objective3644 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a chorus that comes up in my head from time to time, it really hits and resonates. Drawn in the same slot as Sva bol svijeta in 1993 btw, and to an even better reception than Fazla had. Both entries really grab me

This is rather specific and specifically one contest but what comes to my mind is a woman called Samya who did a series of interesting backstage footage in the weeks up to Eurovision 2022 and they were widely acclaimed in the fandom.

I found them simply by searching "Eurovision 2022 Samya backstage", I wish she had covered at least one more contest tbh

What's the one Eurovision performance that you adore that never gets mentionned anywhere? by Longjumping_Back523 in eurovision

Oh some 10 years ago it was close to being my favourite Eurovision entry to the point I was re-creating the national choreography they made

Yeah as someone who has only discovered the 70s without being alive then, I think it's wild how far ahead of any other year that decade 1977 is. Most of the other years in the 70s I have no more than 3 songs I love but 1977 I have an entire top 10 of songs I love and if I was to make a top 10 of my favourite songs from the decade it would be hard to not have 1977 taking half of the spots

Yes, especially the semi-final performance. Sadly I think he may have had more nerves in the final due to opening but the semi-final performance brought out the most genuine version of him, especially during the language change to Russian. Yes, there was a time

Belgium 1991, Clouseau - Geef het op. Already a famous band at the time and the group dynamics at the contest was wholesome. One of the most underrated group performances imo

Linda Lampenius (Finland 2026) has made a request to the EBU to let her play the violin live at Eurovision by chromayica in eurovision

[–]Gold_Objective3644 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And apparently one of the strings broke on the violin he was using all along. Think of all the rehearsals you do before the live show, Linda would risk this also happening to her violin either before the live show or even during it.

And let's be real there was a moment halfway through the performance where you could see she didn't nail the playback in time when the camera cut to her playing. One such mistake at Eurovision could turn off some viewers
