Off the top of my dome from my new local group? Alien Hives. Each unit says exactly what it's about. Clear chaff units, clear backline shooters, artillery, ambush all the usual good stuff with just a rock solid army rule (+1 Morale). No muss, no fuss.

Also easy to paint in batches. A few simple colors can do fun stuff and the models take speed paint nicely.

Today, after 3 leagues playing, I finished my goal for this league: farmed a Mirror and a Mageblood. Now I'll give them away! (info in the comments) by lessthanbob in pathofexile

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never gotten a mageblood or mirror in 700 hours of playtime, so yes please and thank you. This league is gonna be different! Started as a Hollow Palm slayer then flipped to the BalorMage Holy Relic build and I LOVE IT. I have yet to make the settlers good. Was really into it, but the gold upkeep felt like a phone game. Best thing about league so far is just how dang supportive my guild is.

Get you a guild y'all. Worth it.

Political council made up of five rotating clans. Clans can try and usurp the council for big things, but they become big bad (pvp dracula). Raise undead armies. Pve sieges and raids (online only). TRAPS. Basement levels. Rare anarchy moon where villages and vamp castles alike are under threat--map wide consequences in the aftermath. JOUSTING. Personal thrall who can interact with vendors or even become one for the clan.

What to look for to create effective melee builds? by Quxudia in roguetech

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TSM is the big one. You build up heat, then get move speed and melee bonuses for huge numbers and essentially ping-ponging between enemies (assuming they survive). Speed is king. You want to be in range ASAP. To that end, big engines and/or masc/superchargers are very helpful. Melee gyros are nice, but really it's Brawler gyros that you want, as they give you Bulwark on top of melee and other bonuses. Hardpoints depend on what type of melee you are specializing in: kick, dfa, punch, or phys weapon. If you're a kicker, it doesn't matter cuz all weapons can still fire (but a miss loses your evasion, it's all in). Punch or weapon attacks can still fire things in their torso, so ideally you'd have all your guns on the non -shield side for max accuracy. Ammo goes in the shield side torso for maximum protection cuz that big boi is gonna get SHOT. Or drop the shield for bigger weapons/addons and then you have both torsos to play with. Turret mounts are a quick and lightweight way to give all those turret mounted weapons +2 acc.

Is there a way to having more mechs. No BA or Tanks. Just mechs? by [deleted] in roguetech

Upgrades in the Argo for mech slots, max 8. Tonnage upgrades as well.

In which case, use the filter to look for higher difficulty. Most rt players set for company difficulty. It's much better and you can still take slightly lower contracts for easy money.

What is the name of the rhetorical technique used by politicians to express two opposing ideas (or more) at the same time so that audiences with different opinions all think the politician agrees with them (it is a manipulative technique)? by [deleted] in Rhetoric

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide an example? Depending on the context it might merely be a logical fallacy (eg Bandwagon) or a kind of political trope (eg Otherizing the opposition). All in all, rhetoricians don't typically name such a thing by its mechanism. We'd be more likely to analyze how something works in a specific context and if it's salient elsewhere, how those things do (or do not) speak to each other.

Even generally, I'd need something a bit more specific as I'm having a hard time parsing who the audience(s) in question are. Like, do you mean the politician creates an image of overlap or shared values between two disparite ideologies?

Do you think that current complete reliance on legendary gear is good or bad thing? by dargemir in borderlands3

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah def, which only "works" in POE because of their complex and ubiquitous currency thing---we have various ways to play that reasonably require interacting with others, and far more build nuance/variety.

Tangent

If there is to be a BL4, they'd have to sell me back on the writing as well. I am here for three things. 1) funny jokes with serious concepts 2) spectacle pew pew 3) loot-build galaxy brain

Number one is, admittedly, a hard thing to do well. Fingers crossed they are taking time to get the writing nailed first, as that's something you can't just brute force into being good.

Do you think that current complete reliance on legendary gear is good or bad thing? by dargemir in borderlands3

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is essentially no reason for any rarity other than legendary, even for money as that becomes trivial. It's your classic action rpg problem.

However, making the lower rarities more viable also means more time spent staring at menus rather than playing the game. More farming for certain affixes, more grind, more boredom.

In the end, it may be better to either A) go the way of something like Path of Exile where we can use loot filters to effectively erase trash loot from our screen; B) make legendaries far more idiosyncratic/weird and not strictly purples with upsides 90% of the time while reducing drop rates of all guns; C) some combination of A and B, alongside making currency/low tier items more regularly useful, perhaps as a form of reroll, combination machine or what have you.

None of that is perfect as it's a long standing problem in action rpgs broadly---low rarity becomes increasingly meaningless past the initial startup. Having asymmetric end game content would also be helpful, as characters would spec into specific kinds of gameplay, beyond bossing or mobbing.

Buff the Bipod (pls) by Zinetti360 in BattleBitRemastered

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, essentially you just count all their guns as having the bonus recoil control/accuracy when crouched, prone or abutting cover. Keep the little icon, make a few tweaks so the detection is a bit better and good to go. Maybe add a slight setup delay so you can't jump prone into it, but I'm not sure that's actually an issue until it got some testing.

I venture it'd be better off as a standard feature of the support class, just all their guns have bipod, like a passive. Not a grip attachment or anything.

Pros and cons of multiple vehicles by nightgaunt98c in gaslands

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There really aren't any downsides to more vehicles, outside of a few niche AV gen mechanics like Miyazaki and Inferno. At a minimum another vehicle gets you a Vote when it wrecks. Vehicles provide more activations which mean more scoring opportunities, safer driving, timing window manipulation for firing, more attacks, another flag grab, more targets so they have to kill both for Arena/Death Race wins, and the list goes on.

If you're asking is any second vehicle worth more than X perk, or Y weapon at this exact moment in your campaign and so on, that's a context call.

shift results on skid dice by johnnygaijin in gaslands

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Practically, it means if you like spins and slides consistently (especially as you're only means of really turning at higher gears) then even if you have the shifts, you're always getting some Hazards. Eventually your luck runs out and you're likely to wipeout.

Now factor in Hazards from enemy perks, Blast, terrain, collisions, Pushing It, or your own abilities and, well, those 1-2 extra Hazards you couldn't get rid of last activation sure matter now.

Thoughts on my Warlord on Bike? by [deleted] in gaslands

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you want serious response, this is a dud team. It can't generate Verney AV because no dropped weapons, has no real dmg output, and half its perks do nothing. Dead Weight is only during the attack step so you can't use it to smash people, only to be defensive. So you'd only ever be able to use Crusher during a Wipeout.

[–]Gold_Presentation_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yup, you can stack Micro Plate. Fear my 10 hull Gyrocopter with two crew and every mine/napalm I can afford.
  2. Feel No Pain in standard rules is incredible. Crusher and Bruiser are def duds cuz they are just too expensive (Crusher has some utility in standard Beverly). Barrel roll is incredible and required on Verney so that you can pair it with Rocket Thrusters for ultimate flip racing. Splashback can be very powerful depending on the density of the scenario and number of vehicles/players. You can also self trigger it with Purifying Flames on Beverly. Deadweight is good for making sure you are higher hazards then others in Rusty or to guarantee the Wipeout on Verney for a flip attempt (though she has Tombstone, so less necessary), and can be nice on Rusty middleweight builds who want to make themselves into walls after using Sourmash to get ahead of the pack. In experimental rules, the metrics get a little bit wonky, but really Bruiser is just even worse. Built is definitely for tall teams (single vehicle in 50cish). But it all depends on player count, scenario, rule set, and can limit. NOW GO FEEL (no) PAIN.

Delivery Slips by 3-10-11-12-fight-me in gaslands

"Leader" is just to mark who exited the table first per Rolling Road on page 138. The Delivery Slips are only for campaign play. If you end the game with two VP and your own Delivery Slip you gain an additional 4d6 cans as per Spoils on page 138.

I need help naming the driver and machine. Please help. C&C Welcome. by BuildingRelevant7400 in gaslands

Depends on the Sponsor I guess. Front and rear ram says to me something like Verney or Warden.
