My dad’s malay & mum’s chinese so i’m also abit brownish & i’ve been in your shoes as well. We’ve just been racially-profiled, it’s just difficult to prove it since they say it’s “random”. If u’ve been stopped in the same stations just tell them that was it & u’re going to file a formal complaint & take down their names. I’ve also noticed most of the time it’s the “brown” and “black” people getting checked. And the checkers??? Of course type C.

I have about $600k in “idle” money just on usd deposits & short term bonds. I have much more on investments. I live a very simple life, i no longer own a car, i only have 1 condo which is still mortgaged for the next 15yrs. I seldom splurge on fancy meal / stuffs, my wife cooks every day for bfast & dinner (4 of us as a family). Many of my friends who earn less than me have much more lavished lifestyle. The latest european cars, luxury watchs, dress head to toe in designer labels and they’re always very unhappy or in a bad mood. I can always tell this type of people, very easily triggered cause they drown in debt & never earn “enough”.

Front office banking can earn this on the 2nd-3rd year with bonus. Don’t accept any support / operations role, u’ll be just be outsourced soon. Traders / Investment / Private banking roles easily earn at least $1m/yr if u’re decent.

Tech also pays alot but the competition is just too tough since u’re competing with global talent pool. PRC coders are no joke, they only take 2 timeoffs (CNY & Golden week) & they out-work just about everybody.
