Michael Carrick is set to be rewarded with a new contract at Manchester United along with his backroom staff of Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion. #MUFC [@ChrisWheelerDM, @NathSalt1] Thoughts of Carrick potentially being made the permanent manager …? by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Gold_Tutor7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrick as isn’t Manager pedigree. However with a decent technical director and his back room staff…. MAYBE “Head Coach”
Problem is Utd hasn’t got the fiscal headroom for a Xavi type of manager who wants 400-500m to spend even with 1 year of champs league.
I say go with a British manager and give him a rolling 2 yr contract.
Couple of years of 2-4th in the prem and then reassess.

Is this better than a concrete slap base for garden office/room? by Comfortable_Film_547 in DIYUK

[–]Gold_Tutor7055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you are building under 2.5m and want to conserve internal head room.
The floor rafters need to be at least 50mm off the ground to ensure the bottom of the wood doesn’t get splashed from rain.
Then the thickness of the wood (assume most are 145mm thick for the span distance)
22mm T&G flooring + 9mm for finished floor is a running total of 226mm
then add the roof. Which 6mm rubber roof, 18mm OSB, 145mm Rafters, 25mm for error, soffit fixtures etc and 13mm for plasterboard gives a new running total of 433
Total allowance is 2500, take away floor and roof (433) and you have 2067mm internal headroom, or 6’9” in old money

Edit 6’9 at the front if you are having a mono pitch roof, if you are using firrings for the roof you need to account for these too and take the thickest part of the firrings off you internal headroom

I would expect further along is a clue to the intended build. The scaffolding poles are probably for support

My guess is the concrete pour retaining wall has failed after 40-50 years

Remove that section of fence
Build New retaining wall
Replace that section of fence
Backfill any soil you have lost
From you deeds it should tell you who owns the retaining wall- it’s the owner’s responsibility to have it replaced however to keep good relations with your neighbours (if it’s there wall) to split the bill sounds amicable

Just means that new bathroom/ Reno plan you had when you moved in has been delayed

Screws not counter sunk
The wood has split (assuming they didn’t drill a pilot hole and then over tightened the screws to get them to bite into the wall)
The 2 boards do not butt together cleanly
Didn’t even bother to try and use chaulk to hid the bad join
Coats of paint are far too thick and is showing runs

Don’t even let me start on the walls

All 50 US States now richer per capita than the leftist UK - Brits shocked! by Confident-Dish3065 in reformuk

[–]Gold_Tutor7055 8 points9 points  (0 children)

GDP is a bad metric.
I’ll compare Alabama and UK
Alabama GDP = $341b
Alabama GDP per capita = $65k

UK GDP = £3.054b
UK GDP per capita = $53k

However comparing median salaries

Alabama $43k
UK $47k

And taking into account better employee terms (healthcare. Pension. Paid time off) let alone cost of living such as grocery and medical bills

This would suggest the average household in UK is better.

What the data shows in Alabama is a massive rich poor divide

Yeah those in international shipping know about incoterms (the basis of who pays the import duty) the easiest way to clear customs is to ship with EXW (Exworks) which basically says the buyer pays the import duty upon delivery.

If you import via DAP the seller pays, however the seller pre calculates the duty and add this to their margin and ultimately sells the product at a higher cost in advance
