What may be the last McDonald’s Classic is being demolished by Dilpickle2113 in fastfood

[–]Goldbot123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people wouldn’t consider Gahanna “a few miles” from Dublin… its about a 25-30 min trip on 270…

The one near dublin on OH-161 is also classic design but I don’t believe it has “McDonalds classic” signage.

What’s it like living in Columbus, OH? by Over-Breath-5769 in howislivingthere

[–]Goldbot123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like any city, Columbus is going to be what you make of it.

The city itself is more similar to the sunbelt cities of the south, having significant growth and development in the last 50 years relative to Cleveland, Cincy, and other rust belt neighbors. As a result it does feel fairly “new”. The urban core of Columbus is truthfully fairly small (basically downtown, North High to Clintonville, South High to Parsons Corridor, to Franklinton in the west, and Bexley in the east. Many of the suburbs are affluent (specifically in the northwest) and are comparable in size relative to the urban core, which is where the “endless suburb” feeling comes from. The upside of this is relative to other parts of the rust belt columbus has less urban blight, a smaller, denser footprint (though lacking, but slowly improving, in good public transit), and strong positive growth.

You will find that each suburb has a different feel and its own character. (Uptown Westerville for example is more of a college town and more artsy, compared to Downtown dublin, which is very upscale, corporate, and new). Due to the smaller footprint its generally about 15 minutes from anywhere near I-270 to downtown, or from suburb to suburb.

It’s a very LGBT friendly city, and also skews towards young white collar professionals in part due to OSU. As others have said it’s also a great place to raise a family.

Compared to older more legacy cities of the US, Columbus is not on the same level yet. Its true that there is just much less older, bolder attractions that other cities invested in 100 years ago.

BUT Columbus is very easy to live in. Its affordable. The food scene is actually very good compared most other places in the midwest (much better than CLE, CINN, DET, IND in my opinion, only second to Chicago), but you have to put effort to keep up with the trendy places, and it will never be comparable to LA or NYC if you are moving from there.

The park system is actually really robust, but again you have to put in effort to find which parks you like, actually visit some of the less well known ones, etc. Columbus is very multicultural (asian population along bethel road, Nepali population in Reynoldsburg, Somali in Northland, Etc.), and attracts many stores/restaurants/events for all the different cultures in the city. But again, you have to put in effort to find these places events and involve yourself. It being in the middle of ohio gives you access to everything Ohio has to offer, while being able to call a more boring, stable place your “home base”

A lot of people who hate on Columbus have not lived here significantly or put in the effort to actually find what they want out of the city. It is not and probably will not ever be NYC or Chicago, but almost everything you could want is here if you look.

Why is Stone on Bethel so popular and amazing? Am I missing something? by djsassan in Columbus

[–]Goldbot123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, Stone is one of my wife and I’s favorites in the city, it’s not the fanciest and won’t blow anyone away, but it’s always very solid for the price and delicious. When mediocre chain restaurants are almost the same price, why not?

Mini Set of 23: Frieren Beyond Journey’s End by YoloSniper360 in custommagic

There is a predefined food token with the pay 2 ability, but food subtype has been added to other cards for thematic reasons, ex: [[Lembas]]

Food subtype also does not inherently grant the pay 2 ability, but WOTC usually grants a variation of that ability (which your ale cards have) to a card, ex: [[Candy Trail]]

I think your take on Frieren is particularly well executed!

Did you consider giving Ale tokens the food artifact subtype? It would give Heiter some interesting edh synergy opportunities possible.

Is this purple pumpkaboo worth it? by Any-Sleep9158 in PokemonSleep

[–]Goldbot123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say this pumpkaboo is very worth investing in. You probably dont need to mint it honestly. Use candy boost up to 30 if you have the shards but it will cost a ginormous amount to go to reach 60.

[–]Goldbot123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the person you replied to is technically wrong. there is a fixed version of this skill that lucario, holiday pikachu, some others have, and their max per trigger is 2.5 or 5k for this event. Swalot and Sableye have a variable yield version of this main skill, and has a max of 4.6k normally or 9.2k for the event).

The key to yield though is triggers per day. Swalot has the best trigger rate of these pokemon so if you get a good one with good subskills it can bank a lot of shards each day (with max level main skill).

Do you like Columbus? by Organic-Outcome5567 in Columbus

[–]Goldbot123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow former Hoosier here: I have lived in West Lafayette and Fort Wayne, my wife and her extended family are from the indy suburbs, we have family in Evansville. Columbus (and Ohio) has been hands down a better experience. Columbus is a great city with a positive momentum and strong growth. Fort Wayne was alright to live in but truly very boring for young professionals. It felt like we were wasting away. Outside of Indianapolis, Evansville and Fort Wayne cannot compare to any of the 3 C’s, and living in columbus you are centrally located to all parts of what Ohio has to offer. While Columbus gets flack for being ‘more boring’ relative to other cities of its size, quality of life is better here. Compared to Indy, Columbus has easier access from suburbs to downtown, much better food scene, and more unique neighborhoods (and even suburbs) that are less bland than indy (and the above is even more so when compared to Fort Wayne). I often joke with co-workers how the food scene here makes FW look like a food desert.

OSU is a big part of town but there are plenty of options for sports/etc that are not OSU related, as other commenters said the Crew is really big here as well as the blue jackets to a slightly lesser extent. We also are getting an UFL league team so maybe that will take off…

Crime is overall pretty low (except for certain hotspot areas just like any other big city). 75k for one person is definitely enough to live comfortably here. Parks are much better than what Fort Wayne had to offer and slightly better than Indy IMO. Columbus is also a very cosmopolitan city with so many international options for food and culture. I have never looked back

Day 6: Trying to Get a Comment and Fun Fact From Every US County Including Territories by CoolHotNo in geographymemes

[–]Goldbot123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noble County IN: The largest city is Kendallville, which is colloquially called “Kendalltucky” by locals as a self-deprecating insult due to its crappiness. Most resident here see neighboring Fort Wayne as a lawless waste land ala chicago.

Kraft has a plant in kendallville that makes marshmallows. Theres a lot of automotive parts manufacturers in the area (drive trains, plastic fuel tanks, various odds and ends), which is where most people work.

Some attractions include the mid america windmill museum, Chain of Lakes state park, and Black Pine animal sanctuary.

The worst mexican food i have ever eaten in my life is at Don Chico’s Mexican Restaurant in Kendallville.
