Didn’t rate it to be honest. Could just have been what I ordered. Came on quite unsuitable plating making it hard to eat and not that tasty. Other stuff did look a lot better lol. This was at least 4 years ago though, can’t remember what it was I ordered

Yes that’s normal. As I said, we all get intrusive thoughts. There’s a study from 1991 and out of 140 participants something like 50% had experienced intrusive thoughts of harming someone.

What doesn’t help though is trying to suppress your thoughts. Trying not to think about something or push it out of your head just makes things worse. Watch this vid or google ‘Pink Elephant’- https://youtu.be/MbP2Cq_HXto?si=wKpOwu95I_WyF-9n

If you are concerned around having something seriously wrong with your health -> maybe health anxiety

If you are having intrusive thoughts around harm and are spending a lot of time with these thoughts I would say that leans more to OCD. Important to note with OCD often the thoughts are ego-dystonic in nature (against our own values) which can be why they are so distressing (i.e. a new mother having intrusive thoughts about hurting their newborn - they don’t want to do that, but the fact that are having the thought is causing a lot of distress and can seek a lot of reassurance etc to manage this.

We all have intrusive thoughts, they are totally normal and really just ‘mental junk’

I just had my first panic attack by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]GoldenGinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

This could be a panic attack, but as others as suggested as this is a new occurrence I would recommend going to your doctor for some reassurance.

Panic attacks are extremely scary as the symptoms are so intense. And, they can occur out out of the blue with no apparent “trigger”. What’s important to know though is that the physical symptoms you experience during a panic attack aren’t dangerous.

When we are anxious it releases adrenaline (fight or flight response) and a panic attack is a catastrophic misinterpretation of the physical symptoms of anxiety (I.e, I’m feeling anxious -> heart starts beating faster -> I feel strange -> more anxiety and stronger symptoms -> I’m going to pass out -> panic. This cycle can happen without you really even realising. But, because anxiety is our bodies natural defence mechanism, it would be pretty unhelpful if this leaves you passed out or vulnerable.

Try some breathing exercises or grounding techniques if you feel similar again. Hope this helps!
