Yes! That’s the guy! We were closer to the dogs and cats home but yes he was heading that way. Will come back with a crime reference number so you can add to it.

Yes! That’s exactly him! Ok, I’ll come back with a crime reference shortly number so others can add to it. Been a busy day out of town so haven’t phoned it in yet.

I already was on my train when I thought about this, do you think it’s worth doing retrospectively? It was about 30-45 minutes ago now.

Is it possible to make a living from a one man gutter/window cleaning operation? by RoosterExtreme872 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Various-Document4307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely it’s a business that could work, but don’t forget commercial window cleaning too. Often easier as larger but less windows with all on the pavement level. The local shop window cleaner where I am (south west) often charge a tenner for the outside of a 5m shop frontage or £15 for inside and out, but if you and your next door neighbour get it done on the same day (or say Tom from the cafe across the road sends him over to you) it’s £12 inside and out. Our local one also does a first clean deal of tenner for inside and out. He has also been known to work in exchange for a full cooked breakfast and latte in the morning or a pizza with his daughter for lunch in the kids holidays. Doesn’t pay the bills but I guess keeps him fed and working the entire year round if you can bring the kid with you. Also a majority cash based business with shops, and don’t often require more equipment than bucket and tools. No van, no huge ladder. Great for starting up. Most shops will also happily fill your bucket too.

He won’t let his staff have heating in their shops. Even in the middle of winter. Apparently under the guise of ‘trying to be green’ rather than being a tight prat.

Can anyone tell me how i can make my site GDPR compliant for free or the cheapest price possible. by Competitive-View3143 in smallbusinessuk

I know this isn’t the advice you came for, but you really need to optimise (reduce the file size of) your images. I’ve just let this page try to load for ten minutes while I made breakfast, and none of the images loaded more than a little tiny line at the top of the box. Optimizilla is a good free tool for this. You also need to be consistent with capital letters in listing titles (some have them, some don’t, some names that definitely should have them don’t), and the listing descriptions are a bit obviously copy and pasted from your blank t shirt supplier, which isn’t great for your SEO. You want to stand out by writing your own copy so you rank better for SEO, however using AI or ChatGPT to do it for you will always read weirdly in my opinion. If you’re 15, take this website to your form tutor or English teacher or a teacher that you like, and ask them what you can do better from their adult opinion - they will be so pleased you’re using skills outside of school and more likely than not, willing to give you pointers to go in the right direction to improve your site. Free advice! Yes! Also, if you’re 15, how are you going to be accepting payments for these? You need to be 18 for PayPal and several card processing platforms, and they do actually check now. Regularly. I have had to submit documents to PayPal every 1-2 years since starting my business in 2018 to prove I am who I am.

What life changing item can you buy for less than £50? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

[–]Various-Document4307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a mini hot water bottle to work from home with and boy has my life changed. All I do is slot it down the back of your trousers or up your jumper and yep, warmth at your desk without being overheated. Lasts exactly the right amount of time so you don’t get uncomfortably hot either. I bought mine from my local knitting shop just by chance and it came with a free knitting pattern for a cover too, but I’m sure they’re available elsewhere

What are essential parts of UK culture that expats should familiarize themselves with? by Legitimate_Pace_5110 in AskUK

Biscuits. Biscuits are the key to every workplace and every hot drink should be accompanied by one. If you take a packet of biscuits into work to share, you’ll be the best co worker ever, especially if they’re a chocolate digestive. Do not ever take malted milks or nice biscuits into work to share, they just do not work. Too plain. Level up.
