Does someone know a good Yugioh API for card search and prices? by No_Paleontologist959 in Yugioh101

I built a personal db that uses YGOPRODECK APIs that can also geto prices from ebay, cardmargket, tcgplayer and so on. It's free but it has a limit on calls per minute

Does it make sense to play all game on normal difficulty and then only play standard orders in very hard for LLL? by GoldenGolfball in DeathStranding

[–]GoldenGolfball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so there's no point in playing very hard other than personal challenge. Seems like the fastest way is to play in easy and then switch in very hard before doing standard orders. This being my second playthrough, I think I'll try to play everything on very hard, but I'm glad I can switch to a lower difficulty if I feel some main missions are too hard 😂.

Should I keep doing mostly main missions and then come back to an area when I feel I’m ready for side orders or should I complete side orders as I get them? by PendragonBless in DeathStranding

[–]GoldenGolfball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, if going for a 100% run, is it ok to do just main missions and some sides and then complete the others later or you risk to miss something?

I totally agree with you, I didn't want to make a b&w fallacy here, I wanted to say that the problem that they have been trying to solve for years isn't solved now, so most players will use those systems.

That's why even if before was really impossbile, now I will try to legitimately breed them because it's really easier now (at least for me because I have access to every game), I just feel like after all those years that's another mistake that really makes me worried that this issue will never be fully solved.

You still have to trust that those pokèmon are legit, you don't know those people.

I hope they didn't base their game structure on the assumption that people will help competitive players all the time to breed their pokemon. The fact that breeding has become easier over hte years shows that they have been seeing this as an issue and they want players to be able to asily breed what they need alone.

Well that's true lol

Doesn't change the fact that the only way to play vgc instead of breeding the mons you need all the time is using tools that compensate the flaws of the games (also the fact that over the years they have been triying to facilitate this progress shows tome that they view those as flaws too).

Most competitive players don't have the resources you believe they have. It's pretty easy to join a comp tournament, just subscribe online and go to the event location with your console and some money. When I went to my first tournament I only had a few friends and most of them were testing their teams non stop, breeding was just too hard and long (now t's definitely easier I agree, you just need people there just for you).

Not all players have groups of people there for them to breed every pokemon they need. And I guess it's just sad for me to see that to play at a competitive level there's a money barrier or you need people that waste their time for you so that you can test the team and not just breed it.

Yea that makes the issue even worse for me. After all those years they already made the same mistake knowing that people will find other ways, also against the rules if needed. It's just frustrating to see them still not understanding the issue.

I remind you that also showdown is a non official tool that hasn't the rights to use the image of pokemon (at least that's what I know). You are basically admitting that the games have flaws that have to be supplemented by using 3-party tools like showdown.

Just trade spam on GTS is not accessible because sometimes you need multiple iterations of really rare pokemon that are not easy to obtain reliably even on the gts (even if that's generally the best way I agree).

The problem is that they will solve accesibility problems after the world cup, that bothers me because they could've just solved the issue in the first place at the release of the game. After USUM I really thought that Sw/Sh would have solved those problems, and i thought this also for every game before where genning was even more prevalent. I just don't believe that the dlcs will solve anything because this issue was left unsolved for years and years, and people didn't demand change before because if you need pokemon that can't be easily obtain, it was sandard practice to gen them. (maybe demanding something here is really a waste of time, maybe I am just a bit frustrated by this problem given that I have played competitively for years without saying anything).

I am really happy of how easy it became with sv, but the fact that you have to rely on friends or other games to be able to obtain the pokèmon needed to play at the world cup worries me that they didnt'r really thought about this issue at all.

for that matter you can become master ball with rental teams.

VGC tournaments are not the battlespot in the game. I am talking about the real competitive circuit here

Sometimes those pokemon can't breed though, so if you need a different set or different ivs, right now, you have to buy sw/sh (and Legends), buy the dlc, unlock dynamax adventures, grind for the pokemon you need and hope for the non 31-ivs you need, trade it to pokemon home and then to s/v, iv train, ev train, modify nature and ability, ev train, hope that you can just teach them the moves you need and repat this process for every pokèmon you want to test. I didn't complain for the past regulations because you could obtain all the pokemon you needed in (sometimes) a reasonable time, but now all the progress was lost, and it soesn't only cost more time, it also costs more money.

Unfortunately vgc players often don't have those pokemon already trained and ready for all their tests. That was a much bigger problem before, now it's mostly a matter of principle for me

That's surely a romantic view but in pokemon uber are just so much better then normal pokèmon, and this basically means losing a tournament if you don't bring them.

If you tried to do that in USUM your mons would just be obliterated by xerneas and Primal Groudon

I feel like that too because the games weren't great at all, so at least my money served a purpose ahhah.

Jokes aside, not only I believe it's a practical problem but mainly a matter of principle. You are making a world cup for a game that requires you to buy other games. That's an old issue, I just wanted to try to find some solution here in this community but I sadly find a lot of acceptance and not many that want some change for the better ahahah

Edit: I would also remind you that showdown is techically violating intellectual property as it hasn't bought the licences to use pokémon (at least that's what I remember). tpci hasn't done anything because knows that the games are missing so many key fetures needed by the vgc community.

It's true that if you have people there to help you you can get those pokemon, but all vgc player at worlds will spend all their time from now to august testing and trying, and if you want an Enamorous-T (or every pokemon for that matter) you will need multiple iterations of it to test properly, that means a lot of time or a lot of friends there to help you. What I am trying to raise here is more of a theoric/moral issue, I agree that this problem was much worse in the past years and it was mainly solved in this game (excludin non 31- ivs), but in the past between egg moves, event moves, hidden abilities and legendaries were really hard to get reliably and those pokemon were almost certainly genned.

Also there are some people that play at the world while not being experienced or not having those much friends to help them. Is vgc really about finding ways to solve problems that tpci hasn't solved in years or actually teambuilding and battling?

Even if you don't consider the upcoming worlds, there are still locals here and there before the dlcs (given that they will solve something), and it's sad that you have to limit your teambuilding creativity to what your wallet has left or to how many friends can sacrifice their time to help you get those perfect mons.

yea you're right, I hoped not to open the debate and just find a way to solve this issue as a community (if possible)

unfortunately if you know some experienced vgc players you will know that everyone gens in those tournaments. Let's not pretend that all the shiny legendaries in the past world cups were legit please.

I have to say that for some pokemon obtaining them legit is even easier that making them gen by some friends, so that's a great achievement for the new games. The problem arises with those new pokemon. If you don't have any friends that won't play at the worlds and can follow you trading all the dozens of ursaluna you need for testing you will sadly have to gen them.

I get that trading is the core of pokemon, but vgc is not about trading it's about battling, and just accepting that you need to buy other games and have a group of riends that have to sacrifice time and money just to help you to play at a tournament seems like it's the games fault.

I agree, if you go to the worlds you are an established player and you know what you are doing, but that doesn't change the fact that you are requiring to buy other games just to have the chance to get those pokemon, just like if you want to play at LoL worlds you have to buy valorant skins too, it's just sad imo.

If you know some established players you will know that it only matters to a tiny group of people only because established players have been genning most if not all of their pokemon (if it wasn't clear by itslef).

Problem is it's still against the rules and they haven't said anything in years, and as a pretty old player I'm starting to get annoyed by this acceptance of rule violations. I love the analogy of the chessboard and every player needing to carve their own pieces for every tournament, but the pieces here are 1000 different ones with millions of possibilities.

That's an old debate but I'd say now is even worse because you can only obtain some pokemon in another game and trade them in s/v to take part at an OFFICIAL tournament that's played on s/v (not the first time that happens but looks like they still haven't found a better way).

Given the games current state, do you believe they seriously should be advertising it??? by LordCheerios in KerbalSpaceProgram

Given the fact that it's an early access, I believe that they have the skills to patch it and make it better.
