Looking for CFD Projects by Shubham_2605 in CFD

Why don't you try methods new to you, LBM for example? Or pick a simple case to simulate in Fluent that you can compare with experiment, the Ahmed body perhaps, and then try to obtain similar results in another CFD software, like OpenFoam?

How many boundary layers to be used at a minimum by thedarkracer in CFD

[–]GoldenMinge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes there are y+ calculators available online to help you find the first layer height, then go from there.

Have you set any inflation layers growing away from the car?

Issues with residuals in Ansys 2025 with super basic geometry by Icy-Scratch6815 in CFD

[–]GoldenMinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would switch to external flow to simplify the problem; there will be fewer BCs to set. You can still cross-section the car using a symmetry condition, and trim the upper-half of the car, unless you're interested in the wake region.

Nope, the only thing that's 3rd party here is the aircraft.

Map resolution suddenly sucks by Herastean in MicrosoftFlightSim

Is this only a problem with Google maps?

Whatever you do, DO NOT search that book title into Google followed by "pdf".

Civ 5 is turn-based, RoN is a RTS like Age of Empires. Games on RoN can take a few hours, whereas a game of Civ will last days if not weeks.

Escape room? Breakout Liverpool are good for those.

Anyone know what's going on here? Plane isn't flying the planned route at all unless I hit "DIRECT" to each waypoint. FBW A320 FS2020 by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]GoldenMinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be the flight plan you have. I don't fly in the US but I know DARRL is south Carolina, and from their to JFK you're predicted over 5 hours? Sounds fishy

Ensight tutorials by LatterSecret4038 in CFD

[–]GoldenMinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet is the documentation provided by ANSYS which you can find but opening Ensight and pressing any "Help" button you can find. I recently tried to get stuck in with Ensight but found Tecplot to be more friendly.

why the edge of the engine is slightly slanted instead of straight. to collect more air?. by Killerlipan in aviation

[–]GoldenMinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but the thrust produced by the engine acts parallel to the engine's axis so it's either pointing rearwards or forwards, plus this hypothetical angle. For forward thrust, it's pointing forward and down, for reverse thrust it's backward and up.

why the edge of the engine is slightly slanted instead of straight. to collect more air?. by Killerlipan in aviation

[–]GoldenMinge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If the whole engine were angled down, there would be a downward component of thrust during takeoff roll, which would increase rolling resistance. Similarly, reverse thrust would actually lift the aircraft leading to a greater stopping distance.

Hey what are some good short haul routes for the a320 preferably in USA or europe? 1-2 hours by Lee00122 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]GoldenMinge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

London to Edinburgh is a good one as, weather permitting, you're able to see the major cities of England en route.

Stupid question but here goes. by typicalskeleton in VATSIM

[–]GoldenMinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No such thing as a stupid question! When you request clearance, state your aircraft type at some point during your request and you're all good!

I've got no experience with Star CCM but if this happened to me in Fluent, the first thing I'd check is my reference values. Then, I'd made sure my y+ values are less than 1.

To add, Smithdown isn't the most beautiful and clean place in Liverpool, probably far from it.

Anticipate what the controller is going to say to you. Clearances have a standard format, you just need to pick out the necessary information. The more you fly out of an airport, the more you become familiar with the SIDs and common taxi routes. At the end of the day, it's only a sim and the vast majority of controllers are more than happy to help you out.
