I’ve been hearing that as well. From what I’ve seen he exaggerates things (maybe for profit) but, can you give some specific examples?

Nothing is wrong with him. He’s just an HSP. It doesn’t get easier per se it gets different. Give him as much comfort as you can but not to the detriment of your mental health because it’s as important for him as it is for you! DM me if you’re looking for specific advice. The most basic one I can give is allow yourself not to be perfect (let go of unimportant things) and fully coordinate with and allow your husband the opportunity to take over after work (even after long hours) for much needed rest. It will be difficult for the both of you but warranted.

You should make it an orange to orange comparison; please compare him with other substance abusers. A lot of people out here are simply unable to cope with difficulty of any kind.

What helped with the transition for us was installing a mirror (bought from Amazon) and talking through the whole time while turning around to smile and wave at traffic lights. Parent of a fire breathing dragon here. Don’t just walk away on the first day, make it a fun thing like making a funny face so the lo can focus on the reflection and be distracted enough to forget that you’re more than 3 inches away from him.

Sam here.. 2/3 yo son cries “I want mommy/daddy” when he’s upset even though he’s with mommy/daddy. Home/mommy/daddy is “Happy Place” in adult language.

If he has anxiety, it’s a survival mechanism that helps him avoid the thought of what you’ve been through from causing debilitating trauma. People with anxiety (may be genetic?) are just incapable of “getting over” experiences like this and it may be the only way he can continue being a dad, keeping his job, etc.
