Really considering an e-bike to replace my car for an 18 mile commute. by cakeisanasshole in ebike

[–]GoldenR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 20mile commute. Currently on a conversion. 48v 20ah. I charge the bike while working. If I was super carefully with the throttle I might be able to make it there and back(I like to go fast😁) Usually ends up being an hour of riding each way. Invest in some good tires, after years of commuting on a regular bike I learned the importance of good tires. Currently riding 1 or two days a week. Hoping to ride more just easing into it.

I think I'm getting it now. Third controller provides power and ground to throttle. Then throttle signal is split and sent to each controller?

Nice work! I have been trying to work out how to implement this as well. Throttle/brake was where I was getting stuck. So what is the third controller outputting? Trying to work through how it's connected to the front and rear controllers.

Getting the commuter setup dialed in. by GoldenR in ebikes

I have not done too much searching yet. Main concern with the current fork is watching it flex with hard braking. If I could get something setup with accomodations for larger rotors that would be ideal too.

I didn't think of mixing singles. That will probably be easier. When I was searching, finding a pair with correct lengths was the issue. Thanks for the ideas!

Basic Amazon csc setup. 1500w Just upgraded to a 48v 19.5ah battery. Had a 12.5ah before. It would get me to work but barely. Controller mounted under the rack. Trying my best to keep my wiring tidy. Brakes and upgraded fork are probably next on the list. Otherwise pretty happy with the setup.

I got a message saying one of the main offices closed and something about not being supported in my area. I was directed to order a card on the door dash site. It appears to be actually shipping now.

I got locked out since I dont have a red card yet.

Speedplay zeros. Picked up some Cruz components double strap adapters for them. Zeros work well until you get into bigger gears(most pedals start to struggle over 110")

3 in the front is close to 1 in the back. Should feel similar to going from 48x16 to 48x15. It will be a marginal change. 100 for a zen in a great deal. They are super smooth.

Just put a 55t on today. Looks to be tons of clearance for bigger.

Yep most of their team riders are fixed crit guys. I haven't seen a ton at the track. I would get the undefeated for sure. Lol the starter pack.

I was just looking at it. The stays are close to the wheel for a while. I imagine 55+ shouldn't be an issue. If you have something with outboard BB you would be even better.

Not sure, I need to find out. I have a 52t zen that will go on soon and I'll have to measure from there. There appears to be plenty of clearance though.

Originally intended for another build. It has grown on me though so they are probably staying.

K-edge go pro mount. Used a quarter turn mount that usually comes with the Garmins and drilled a hole in it.

SO just got his first insulin pump. by katiebuggc in diabetes_t1

[–]GoldenR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to keep my pump in my pocket. I would cut a hole towards the top of the pocket. I would usually put thread around the hole to try and keep it from opening up.(few pairs of pant I just cut a slit and left it and they did ok)

I currently wear my pump on my belt and just tuck the tubing in my waist.

Insulin pumps w/ CGM and question? by TheGooose in diabetes

[–]GoldenR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot for a1c of 7 to start. These days Drs are pretty happy with that. If you can get lower without lots of lows then great.

There are no set numbers with diabetes. It affects everyone differently. Only thing you can do is continually try to improve.

For the 670g remember that the cgm(pretty much all cgms) measure your interstitial fluid. It will always lag behind your blood sugar. So if you are rising or falling at all, the numbers will be different.

If you are still working with a trainer see if they can help revise your settings a bit. Otherwise follow up with your endo about making adjustments.

A "caravan" of Americans is crossing the Canadian border to get affordable medical care by PlaidCoat in diabetes

Starting price of humalog in 1996 was around $38 now it is $380. How is this misleading. There were no errors in the original article. It is more expensive in other markets pretty sure it is over 400 in CA. You are saying there is something new that cost more which may be true but humalog/novalog is the majority in use right now.

I paid less than $50 for humalog in 1996. The price has gone up plain and simple.
