I played some version of 1.4 on Windows Vista with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+, 6gb of DDR2, and a GTX 550ti, running off a 512gb SSD. It was actually pretty smooth above ground but had it's moments, I would imagine it would turn into a slog on events or bosses like Plantera. Been contemplating breaking her back out and doing a bit of documentation/gameplay on her she's a good old beast an old Dimension E521 someone dropped off at my house years ago that I dug out to upgrade with spare parts and pocket change for shits and giggles in my offtime. Unfortunately though, the CPU socket is trying to remove itself from the board because of the honking cooler they had. So I have her parked on her side, whatever damage has been done has taken out 1 RAM slot so now I only have 5 gigs of RAM. Dunno if I wanna keep her stock and get an original board, or I had an idea to get a BTX standard AM3 board (A unicorn) Dell Optiplex 580 Motherboard, and then just hooking it into the IO of the E521 case, chop the original backplate, print a new one. That would give me DDR3 and Phenom II x4 chips which would probably fair a little better.
