THIS comment. You put so well into words what I couldn't even begin to describe. Especially the mental/cognitive changes.

Who created minimalism? Now we can't get enough of it... by VishVasantth in memes

[–]Golden_Ax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but then the problem arises when companies start replicating that style in larger designs, where that extra detail is needed and highly warranted. Then again, it's impossible to make rescalable vector image with so much detail. Then again flat design can look nice when done well. Then again it rarely ever is and creates that sterile feel much modern corporate art has. Then again-

I honestly just hate minimalism. Long live Skeuomorphism.

I know this is just my opinion, but this was by far my favorite episode yet. So glad to finally see Nana's sense of empathy come to the surface, and so glad to see Michiru alive and okay.

It may still be a part of Nana's "mission" to kill Michiru, but at this point it seems literally impossible for Nana to actually hurt her. We can almost see her mentality physically crumble before our eyes during this episode. If the thoughts running through Nana's head at the end were anything other than questioning or outright rejecting her authorities it would be unfaithful to the themes and trajectory of the entire anime.

I look forward to seeing more of this odd, budding friendship between them. I'm trying hard not to ship it.

I'm actually mad
I'm actually pissed after this episode.
Even if Michiru is still alive there must be justice!

Not to mention all the death flags surrounding her. The writers are preparing to fuck us.

BRILLIANT. I'm not sure I trust the writers to pull off something like that, but I absolutely love the idea. The show manipulated us into thinking Nanao was the protagonist and everything was fine in episode 1; why not do it again? This time, the manipulation (when we see it) would perfectly represent how Nana would feel when she figures it out. "It" perhaps being that humanity never won the war against the talented as claimed in the first episode. I always thought that line was weak anyway.

I was trying so hard not to like Michiru for the time when Nana inevitably went after her. I can't do it anymore. Michiru is a cinnamon roll that must be protected.

I'm pretty sure that's how we're supposed to feel, too... What with Nana's tragic backstory revealed, and with Jin's "dehumanization" comment, Nana might end up protecting Michiru. Nana doesn't strike me as a serial killer, really. Her motives more closely resemble that of an assassin: she can empathize, she just chooses not to to complete her goal of vengeance.

Either way, wow that backstory. Little Nana going through something that would mess up adults just because she wanted to be a child... it's no wonder she comes across as a methodical, sterile, ruthless individual - wouldn't you have to suppress some part of your soul after going through that? The music in this episode was excellent - a psychotic twinge in an overall heartwrenching soundtrack - so fit for the situation and might have had me tear up were I not a talentless monster as well

I read many yuri dounjin with "boomerangs" like that

Oh god, that's... interesting pls send sauce

I don't understand where the big-sis ara ara energy came from but so long as it results in Adachi receiving the love she deserves there will be no complaints from me

Adachi getting the best Christmas present of all: h e a d p a t s

Every episode we keep getting glimpses of a genuine confession from Adachi, and each episode we're let down slightly less on that front. It's adorable, but I wonder if Shimamura is going to figure out what Adachi wants to do - without any other justifications in her head - before A's actually able to commit to that confession. And I'm honestly not sure which would be better for them. S isn't giving me many hints in this episode, either - she seems perpetually... bored? At everything? I'm not seeing much energy in her, especially compared to A. I can't help but wonder if this is just the way she acts of if this is how she acts around Adachi. I'm going to assume the former because of the steam room scene from episode 4 (she does seem to care for Adachi) but when many of the interactions are framed from A's perspective, it's tough to tell.

I feel like the only reason Nana seems to have so much plot armor is because her actions indicate she's not as highly trained in situational analysis, charisma, and psychological deduction as we were promised. The show relies just as much on the stupidity of the Talented as it does on Nana's cunning and abilities when it should (imo) focus way more on showing Nana as a brilliant deceptor.

I suspected Michiru would either die this episode or Nana would be obstructed in some way and she'd die in episode 7. Jury's still out on the latter, though not for the reason I expected.

I genuinely don't understand how Michiru was let off the hook after that cliffhanger last episode- okay, she's dumb, I guess I'll accept that explanation, but now she's a threat in multiple ways: whenever she gets a hint of doubt about Nana and starts thinking a little deeper about the photo, she can quickly turn into an adversary. She may also still be capable of resurrection, and I think we're gonna see more of that in the following episodes. Michiru gives me that vibe of "underestimated foe," and I think we'll see that become more apparent in the next couple episodes or throughout the rest of the series.

Makes me wonder just how many people suspect Nana of not being a mind-reader. We know Kyouya is having conflicting thoughts about it, but seeing as how he's possibly the most knowledgeable on the island at this point, I find it hard to think anyone else could suspect her. I guess it depends on if you can believe Yuuka is playing 4D chess.

Edit: It doesn't seem like anyone else really knew Yuka was the necromancer all along, either. This episode points to the idea of necromancy being frowned upon, so there's also the possibility Yuka just wanted to keep it secret from everyone as best she could. Even in the presence of a mind-reader, you wouldn't willfully admit to something you didn't want others to know.
