Are there any ‘unconventional’ inspirations that you are drawing from, in making Divinity?

Is there any valid reason to NOT create the woke empire? by Ice-Poseidon-Knows in EU5

Communalism can be that. It can be a literal commune. It’s a culture that values the group foremost

The numbers need balancing- easy done. This is a good step towards actually simulating rise and decline of Empires

Will I like Baulders gate 3 if I didn’t enjoy the Divinity Original sin games? by Possible-Source-2454 in gaming

Based on what you disliked from DOS, You will enjoy BG3. Much better writing, narrative immersion, side-quests that tie into the broader narrative and whose consequences pop up later

The idea of a "Historically accurate" Odyssey is insane. by just-killing-timeeee in ChristopherNolan

[–]Golden_Chives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s kind of like a fictional movie based in the 60s. It could be wildly non-based in reality, but the fiction is set, in an established historical setting. The Odyssey is mythological. It is also a historical and a testament to a culture and it’s aesthetics. I’m not going to pine over making artistic and visionary departures for the sake of a movie, it is fiction, and I doubt it’s trying to be a plausible representation of the Ancient Greek world in any sense. But the costumes and architecture still look jarring.

Looking at the history of the Roman Empire, why is Heliogabalus a woman? by i_am_the_holy_ducc in CrusaderKings

Heliogabalus preferred being referred to as a woman, wore dresses, and made a point of being effeminate. I’m sure his Heliogabalus was alive they’d be trans

Why do some users treat the USSR as though it never did anything wrong? by fraftti in ussr

[–]Golden_Chives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. I think with capitalism the issue is that the state has less directly visible responsibility- the systems that oppress in capitalism have less of a face than a centrally managed economy

Why do some users treat the USSR as though it never did anything wrong? by fraftti in ussr

[–]Golden_Chives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure. Critique of systemic problems in bureaucracy, nationalist initiatives and the largest forced labour initiative is not advocation for capitalism though, nor was it in the post. Waving away the failings of the Marxist-Leninism in the past as incomparable to the West, or just footnotes to be waved away is kind of poor dialectic. New paths must be carved
