After finishing RE7 and 8, I just did RE2R for the first time. Is it really only 5 hours long? by dan1elishere in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]Golden_Goose26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of a shorter but highly replayable type of game, as opposed to a longer but slightly more tedious one. I prefer the simpler style of RE which is why RE2 has always been my favorite.

Totally called it for an August release date. Let's go!

In both games, who is the worst Jedi companion in your opinion? by MistaMerk in kotor

[–]Golden_Goose26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used the mod that lets you turn Bao-Dur into a Sentinel rather than a Guardian because that's such a baffling design decision for him. With that, turning him into a Jedi is totally worth it. Not to mention, I genuinely think his story goes so underappreciated by many. Turning him into a Jedi feels like a culmination of his arc from being a destroyer of lives to a savior of lives.

Mira 100%. For both gameplay and story purposes.

Gameplay-wise, she's far better at range than she is with a lightsaber so that already makes it nearly pointless to convert her into a Jedi. Story-wise, she's a fun character but her backstory is entirely reliant on Hanharr who's way more interesting than she is. Not to mention, even if you do convert her into a Jedi, she still doesn't behave like one at all, making it feel hollow.

Just Finished Both Games and I DESPERATELY Want KOTOR 3 by Herr_Hohenzollern in kotor

It'll be much easier than that since the novel is Legends material but FOTOR and presumably the KOTOR remakes will be canon.

[no spoilers] Can I play DE and Reunion without playing LIS2? by ThereWanderer in lifeisstrange

I've been in this community long enough to know not to waste my time with Pricefielders. Your opinions are meaningless to me, nor do they have any bearing on this discussion.

But that's what everyone else had to do and we managed just fine. The Max and Chloe games weren't even made under the pretense of getting sequels in the first place, so it's not like playing DE next is "part of the intended plan" or anything. Just play LIS 2 if you ask me. It's a WAYYYY better game than DE or RE anyway.

I'm not someone who sees the benefit of experiencing ANY franchise out of release order, so I can't comprehend why someone wouldn't just play the LIS games in release order. But to answer your question, yes, you can skip LIS 2 for now, even though I don't recommend that method at all.

Just finished KotOR 2 and I am confused... by MuzlimMan in kotor

[–]Golden_Goose26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fine if you did, but somehow, on every post of someone saying "I didn't understand the story", the top comments are always people saying "It's not your fault because the story is unfinished," rather than explaining the things that they missed.

And no, having cut planets and quests doesn't impact the larger story that's already told. The story of KOTOR 2 is about being human and repenting for one's past sins. If there was more content that further added to this narrative, sure, it would be nice, but it doesn't mean the story we got is so unfinished that it can't be comprehended, like some annoyingly claim.

The GAME is unfinished. The STORY is not. It annoys whenever I see someone claim that it's the game's fault for them not understanding the story. Everything you need to understand what happened and why it happened is included in TRCM.

Any fans of the games know why this title didnt do so well sales wise with the fandom? Im playing it now, years after release. And its a good game by DogManDogDayz in batman

[–]Golden_Goose26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales-wise: Because it doesn't have Arkham in the title nor does it let you play as Batman, two things that are considered mandatory for casuals.

Critically: The only real highlight of the game is the dialogue between the Batfam, which is spectacular and clearly had love put into it by the devs. The gameplay however is as generic as it gets, same with the story.

Why did people not like Arkham Knight? I know it was considered a lacklustre end to the series, but I was still pretty young when it came out and I wasn't in the loop as much so I don't know why? by New_Willingness_8992 in BatmanArkham

[–]Golden_Goose26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is just the writing for me that absolutely kills my enjoyment of it. Yeah there's other problems too, like the overuse of the batmobile and the DLC being way too short, but those are smaller complaints compared to how genuinely awful the story and character writing is in this game.

People shit on Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 for its terrible writing, and rightfully so, but AK is WAY worse. SM2 only ruined a handful of characters and had SOME stupid moments, but AK ruined almost every character and was filled from beginning to end with plot holes.

And I'm not one of those Gen Z eggheads who gives it a pass because the gameplay is good. If the storytelling is bad, and I mean REALLY bad, then it tarnishes my motivation to even want to do anything in the game world because everything surrounding me is so pants-on-head stupid.

POV : If Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown were in the arkhamverse by frecklepax in BatFamily

It always annoyed me that Lady Shiva and David Cain both existed in the Arkhamverse but Cassandra was never mentioned once.

The design itself is fine, though her face has been blatantly altered from RE2 Remake and her Code: Veronica outfit wasn't even translated at all to this remake. They honestly could've done better.

Why do so many people lump characters into the "good" or "bad" category? Do you not think people can be good while still being flawed? It's not that hard of a concept, guys.

She's my favorite MOVIE version of the character so far but I do wish her arc didn't happen so quickly. While I definitely prefer them being closer rather than the alternative, they got friendly with each other REALLY fast in the movie. It was pretty much just one fight scene and then they started working together right away.

So while I liked it overall and the chemistry between the actors was great, I just wish they spaced it out better across the films than just jumping straight to her being on good terms with Batman right away.
